when it says "compatible with select Manfrotto ...
when it says "compatible with select Manfrotto heads" does that mean that we could use the plate from a manfrotto head (ie 608) and lock it to this plate?
I use a plate from the Manfrotto 612, and it works fine. So not sure why the 608 doesn't.

Would the "501" type long plate that comes with the DJI RS2 fit in this receiver?
I just tried it, and the answer is yes. I'd post a photo, but can't. It's quite snug and takes some force to slide or tighten the locking know, but it fits and locks securely.

Is this basically the same as a Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adaptor BH #MA577? Also just confirming doesn't come with a slide plate and you'd need to purchase a Manfrotto 501 PL BH #MA501PL.
Yes, this is a very similar quick release plate to the Manfrotto 577. Both this product and the 577 include a sliding plate.

Will this work with a Sachtler Ace sideload plate? If not what will (other than Sachtler)
I can confirm, as I do this all the time, yes. It will fit the sachtler sliding plate.
