The Stainless Steel Reducer Bushing from Really Right Stuff serves as a an adapter when thread sizes don't coincide with each other. For example, certain tripod heads will not attach because the threaded slot is larger than the tripod mount, so the bushing reduces the 3/8"-16 thread down to a 1/4"-20 size allowing the head to attach. Because of the flathead screwdriver slot, the bushing can be easily removed to convert the mounting thread to its original size.

Great Reducers Because They Don't Stick Out Above To The Surface!

What's Nice About The Right Stuff Reducers Are They Screw All The Way In The 3/8"-16 Hole And Don't Poke Out Like Some Other Brands. I Wanted To Mount A Certain Baseplate To My Camera And I Tried Other Reducers, But When Screwing Them All The Way In, The Rim Still Pokes Out, Therefore When Mounting The Baseplate It Couldn't Be Flush With The Camera. These Reducers Go Past The Surface Which Means You Can Mount Anything Flush Against The Hardware You're Connecting Using 1/4"-20 Screws.

question
OK: I think I have the answer to my question: This depends on how one is viewing the situation: this is a reducer if viewed from the object to be clamped, e.g., a camera clamp with originally 1/4 socket, and needs to be mounted to a tripod with 3/8 stud. I am looking for something that goes in the opposite direction: my tripod stud is 3/8 , and need to find a bushing that will reduce the TRIPOD 3/8 stud to 1/4 . The photo will be quite different for this type. Can the experts help, please??
Here you go. Impact Small 3/8 Female Threaded Adapter to 1/4 -20 Male Threaded Post B&H # IMCA103.

question
Is this really a reducer bushing? The specs show OUTER (outside) thread is 3/8 and INNER (inside) thread is 1/4 . The photo shown doesn't show a reducing type. Thanks.
The outside is 3/8-18 and the inside is 1/4-20 with a notch in one end that allows you to screw it in with a wide standard blade screwdriver. I secured my outside with Locktite red to keep the reduction permanent. It is high quality, made out of stainless steel.
