Vello LAG-MFT-NF Overview

Pair your existing Nikon F-mount full-frame lenses with a Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera with this Accelerator Lens Adapter from Vello. By using a specialized optical design with 5 elements in 4 groups, the adapter is able to increase a lens' angle of view by a factor of 0.71x while simultaneously increasing the maximum aperture by one whole stop. This allows a 50mm f/1.4 lens on an MFT camera to achieve an equivalent focal length of 71mm while providing it with a f/1.0 equivalent aperture. Along with this, the adapter features a manual aperture ring with an 8-stop range in 1/2-stop increments.

The durable metal adapter features a removable tripod foot with 1/4"-20 socket for use on a tripod or support system, alleviating strain on the lens mount. Additionally, the product has a matte black interior to prevent reflections from interfering with image quality. Please note that Nikon E-type lenses, though they will physically fit, will not have aperture control as they do not support the manual aperture ring of the adapter.

  • Adapts full-frame Nikon F-mount lenses to Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras
  • Magnifies the lens' angle of view by a factor of 0.71x to reduce the effect of the camera's crop factor
  • Increases the maximum aperture of the lens by one stop
  • Optical design uses five elements in four groups to retain maximum image quality
  • Manual aperture ring with 8 stops in 1/2-stop increments
  • Removable tripod foot has 1/4"-20 socket for direct mounting on a support system, eliminating unnecessary strain on the camera's lens mount
  • Matte black interior helps reduce flare for optimal image quality
  • Metal construction for long-term durability
  • While Nikon E-type lenses will physically fit, the manual aperture ring function is not supported
  • This adapter does not provide electronic communications

Vello LAG-MFT-NF Reviews

Does not work

Adapter places the plane of focus before the camera chip. With a lens set at infinity, focus falls at 40. Completely unusable with a standard to wide angle lens not stopped all the way down (a telephoto lens hides the issue with greater depth of focus). Vello / Gradus Group did their best to deny the issue before finally conceding. Still waiting for promised refund.

Focus is softened.

I used it on my BMPCC 4K. None of the lenses would focus complete, and the focus loss is at a not acceptable level. I replaced with a regular metal adaptor (URTH) with no glass, and now I can focus sharp. I don't recommend buying, unless you are able to test, and return. Also, it loses some color info. This can be on my camera only, but it is an optical event, and probably will be common.

Will it fit on my Olympus EM-5 cameras? The equivalent Viltrox NF-M43X does NOT fit, due to protruding top of the camera.
Asked by: Christo
Purchased the Vello adapter based on the previous answer to the question about mounting the adapter on an Olympus E-M5 Camera. What I found is that the adapter is marginally larger than the Viltrox NF-M43X and will not mount on the EM-5 III. Otherwise, it looks like a quality adapter.

Will it work with 20, 24, 28, 35mm lenses with the aperture open? The Viltrox doen't.
Asked by: David
No - will not work with wide angle lenses or large apertures, which is the whole point of an optical adapter: add light and avoid the crop factor. So this adapter basically is useless.

Asked by: Kyle
It is a manual focus only adapter. This Viltrox would support AF but it is not a "booster" adapter: https://bhpho.to/3tewTL7
