Tamron 70-210mm f/4.0 overview

  • 1Description

Mixing a beloved zoom range with a relatively compact design, the Nikon F-mount 70-210mm f/4 Di VC USD from Tamron is a versatile lens covering a useful portrait to medium telephoto perspectives. Its constant f/4 maximum aperture maintains consistent brightness throughout the zoom range and offers increased control over depth of field for achieving selective focus effects. A minimum focusing distance of 3.1' along with a 1:3.1 maximum magnification benefit working with close-up subjects and the rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality. Complementing the optical assets is a USD autofocus motor, which delivers notably quick, quiet, and precise focusing performance that suits both stills and video applications. Also, four-stop-effective Vibration Compensation helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting in difficult lighting conditions. Additionally, the lens is moisture-resistant and has a fluorine coating on the front element to enable its use in trying environmental conditions.

Telephoto zoom is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount DSLRs, however can also be used with DX models where it provides a 105-315mm equivalent focal length range.
Constant f/4 maximum aperture affords consistent brightness throughout the zoom range and offers improved control over depth of field.
VC image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 4 stops or more effective handheld shooting in difficult lighting conditions.

Internal zooming mechanism maintains the overall lens length during use for easier, more intuitive handling and faster performance.
A moisture-resistant construction benefits this lens' use in inclement conditions, and a fluorine coating has also been applied to the front lens element to protect against dust, dirt, and smearing.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.
Optional tripod collar is available, which features an Arca-type compatible foot, for more stable use atop a tripod.
Compatible with optional Tamron teleconverter for extending the effective reach of this lens, and also compatible with optional TAP-in Console for fine-tuning select focusing adjustments and for updating lens firmware.

    Tamron 70-210mm f/4.0 reviews

70-210mm f/4 Di VC USD Lens for Nikon F is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact Lightweight Lens Very lightweight lens for a 70-210mm lens, 43 % lighter than Tamron's f/2.8 model. Very well constructed lens at this price point. Focus speed and accuracy are excellent. Lens is designed to accept a tripod collar, not a requirement considering the weight of the lens, but a nice feature regardless. The optional tripod collar base conforms to the Arca-Swiss quick release design. The lens seems very sharp with accurate color rendition. Overall I am very pleased with the results from this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To be always in my bag All along, you hope to have a great leans at a good price and quality, as a photographer we always look to have light weight lens that you can carry on every time, from a long walk journey to a photo shooting session, not the bulky lens f/2.8 that is are very soft image and heavy. Surprise, this is the one! Using a Image Stabilization that made a cutting edge jump, will make you take photos to 1/50s, because this are very lightweight lens! You don’t need a tripod to have good photos. Great quality at f/4, let’s be honest, this lens barks to be outside, hunting birds, sports, flowers or bugs (semi macro capabilities are AWESOME) finally for studio with off lights at f/5.6 this, you will have sharpness that cut you every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good lens, recommended. Good zoom range, light, fairly small. Only had it a few days, took it out a couple of times and so far I'm happy on the image quality. Bought the 1.4x tele-converter but have not tried it out yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens This is a great lens and as good as the 70 200 2.8 in most cases. only for the low light situation, the 2.8 lens has an edge. However, it's lighter and smaller, hence it is much more travel-friendly. Image quality is pretty good. The bokeh is beautiful. It Can be used as regular telephoto and portrait lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lens for the price! Sharp lens. I think it's fantastic wide open (f4). Nice bokeh. Color rendition is very good. I did not have any trouble with front focusing on my Nikon 750D, it was spot on. Light weight compared to f2.8s. Great lens for hiking which is why I purchased it. The zoom ring being out towards the end of the lens is different, I keep grabbing the focus ring to zoom but I'll get use to it. Delighted with the purchase. B&H is the best.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Purchase This lens was an excellent purchase. It is relatively light and the images are very crisp. The price was reasonable; I wanted an f 2.8 but it was out of my price range. I couldn't be happier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Economical but of quality After having tried this telephoto lens I can say that its quality, despite its price, fulfilled my expectations, light, sharp, silent, even extraordinary. Obviously oriented for open places is an excellent purchase option
