Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Nikon F
Key Features
  • F-Mount Lens/FX Format
  • Aperture Range: f/1.4 to f/16
  • Three FLD Elements, Two SLD Elements
  • One Aspherical Element
With a no-holds-barred approach to design, the Nikon F-mount 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens from Sigma is a short-telephoto, portrait-length prime distinguished by its bright maximum aperture and advanced optical layout. The fast f/1.4 design greatly benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords extensive control over depth of field for isolating subjects and working with selective focus. As part of the Art line of lenses, this lens is also designed for high-resolution rendering, and utilizes FLD and SLD glass to control chromatic aberrations and color fringing for notable clarity. A Super Multi-Layer Coating also enhances image quality by suppressing lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, a rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

question

why didn't sigma include this very expensive lens with VR?
Asked by: bernard r.
This is because if the VR is increased, the cost of the lens will increase too high, resulting in no price competitiveness and becoming a lens that few people will buy.

Is there a good teleconverter option for this lens?
Asked by: Guy
With minimal modification (remove a rubber ring?) the Sony FE Teleconverter Sel20TC (are there others to?) will apparently work, but only in MF. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VszhdbbHqgs I don't understand portugese and also will have to see again regarding if one can, or not, step down apperture (if not; perhaps with some tricks). In the comments there it is pretended "there is no image-quality deterioration". ( It's a bit enraging that sigma is not providing an extender solution. I can only talk for the 105 version with fixed Sony FE (not with MC-11) mount.

Anyone have to AF Fine Tune back focus on a Nikon D750?
Asked by: Tony
Lenses can sometimes require back focus adjustment. Sigma offers back focus calibration as a service during the 4 year warranty period but you would need to send the lens and camera. To avoid downtime, you can get the Sigma Dock to perform these calibrations yourself: https://bhpho.to/2D3paYs The Sigma USB Dock allows you to connect your Sigma Global Vision lenses to your computer in order to update firmware and adjust focus setting parameters using the Sigma Optimization Pro software.
