Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Sony E
Key Features
  • E-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
  • Aperture Range: f/1.4 to f/16
  • Three FLD Elements, Two SLD Elements
  • One Aspherical Element
With a no-holds-barred approach to design, the Sony E-mount 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens from Sigma is a short-telephoto, portrait-length prime distinguished by its bright maximum aperture and advanced optical layout. The fast f/1.4 design greatly benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords extensive control over depth of field for isolating subjects and working with selective focus. As part of the Art line of lenses, this lens is also designed for high-resolution rendering, and utilizes FLD and SLD glass to control chromatic aberrations and color fringing for notable clarity. A Super Multi-Layer Coating also enhances image quality by suppressing lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, a rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Looking to upgrade my portrait game, but I can't decide between the Sigma 85mm 1.4 or Sigma 105mm 1.4. One is $1200 and one is $1600. Is this lens really worth $400 more? If so, what are the benefits that make it $400 better than the 85mm 1.4?
Asked by: Gladys
Just my opinion but if you get an 85 eventually you’ll want a 135 as well. The 105 may be an excellent compromise. Something to consider anyway. I’m a Canon guy with the 85 f1.4 and 135 f2 if I had to do it over I’d give it serious thought.

anyone test this lens (native e-mount) on the Sony FX9? How is the auto-focus performance? Thanks!
Asked by: Dan Lowrey
While we are not aware of any specific tests between this lens and the FX9, Sigma E-Mount lenses tend to work very well for auto focus with Sony cameras. It should work fine.

How do you update a firmware on that lens? Please send me a link if possible. In regards to E-Mount.
Asked by: Vladislav
I don't see a firmware yet available for that lens in Sigma's website. The Sigma 70mm for E mount does list a firmware update and here are the instructions which will give you an idea of how it would work if there is an update available for the 105mm in the future. https://bit.ly/2PGHOea

Unfortunately there aren't any. Sigma does not make one for Sony E mount and the only options we have for Sony E mount only work with some Sony lenses.

Will this lens actually ever ship?
Asked by: Nathan
I find that Sigma is usually very good in getting out their products. This lens evidently had extra work as compared to the Canon and Nikon versions.Since we now have pricing for it, I would say its arrival is imminent. I think between Thanksgiving and New Year's.

How is the manual focus on this lens? I find the motorized manual focus lenses for E-mount to be all over the place. Some are maddening like the Sony 18-105mm PZ, some you'd almost not know it was motorized at all like the Sony 24-105mm.
Asked by: Lisa
The manual focus on this lens is quite flawless, smooth movement and extremely accurate.
