Sigma looked to create a peak portrait prime with the 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens, and they delivered an optic with high performance, a large f/1.4 aperture, and a variety of technologies. Available here with a Sony E mount, this lens offers a super-fast f/1.4 aperture that is great for getting images with an exceptionally shallow depth of field and smooth bokeh. It also uses two SLD elements, one anomalous partial dispersion/high-refractive index element, and one aspherical element that minimize aberrations and ensures a crisp, clear image. A Super Multi-Layer coating helps by suppressing flare and ghosting.

I have a Sony a7r3, do i need a mc11 adapter, cause in many YouTube videos I saw everyone using the sigma 85mm lens with the adapter
You will not need to use the MC-11 adapter with this lens. This lens has a Sony E-mount so you will not have any problem using it with the Sony A7RIII or any Sony E-mount camera. The MC-11 is only necessary when using an EF-Mount lens.

Anyone using with Canon R5 ?
Anyone using with Canon R5 ?
NO, I am using the Canon 5D Mark ii and the Canon 6D Mark ii. The Lens is GREAT when it works, but when it doesn't it's VERY VERY BAD! It locks on to the subject and it looks focused through the viewfinder, but after you take the picture it's extremely out of focus. I hope that helps.

Is this lens worth buying over the Sony 85mm f/1.8 for portraiture?
Definitely. It’s comparably sharp and images come out really good. Can’t beat this price point as well
