It can be used independently for when simply transporting the lens, or attached to an optional Think Tank belt or backpack so you can easily carry it around while shooting.

No. I bought this bag for my Sony 200-600mm lens (based on the staff response that said it would work) and found that the bag is too small. The only way I could get the zipper to close (and it was tough) was if I had no filter on the lens (I normally have a UV on it), and if I pulled the rain-cover out so it was hanging out. With the rain cover stowed away (which is how you'd use this always), there isn't enough space for the lens.
