Key Features
  • 1.8 Optical Density
  • Noncoated Water White Glass Construction
  • Aluminum-Alloy Filter Ring
  • 49mm Front Filter Threads
This 49mm Tiffen Water White Glass NATural IRND Filter is a neutral density filter with a 64x filter factor that provides a 6-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

Tiffen WW NATural IRND Filter Overview

This 49mm Tiffen Water White Glass NATural IRND Filter is a neutral density filter with a 64x filter factor that provides a 6-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible light and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times.

This filter is noncoated, is constructed from Water White glass for increased clarity, and features an aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Tiffen WW NATural IRND Filter Reviews

Spend the extra $$ on these!

Tiffen makes great filters. ND filters are super important tools for me so I spend the extra money on these. I’ve used just the basic ND from Tiffen and was getting a yellowish tint in my videos that drove me crazy. I stepped up to these and they are truly neutral.

Another example of Tiffen's best

Ever since my first series filter for my Leica M3, back in the 1960's, TIFFEN has not let me down. Same now, as then, but this time for my Panasonic S1H. Just great for a PURE COLOR feel. No color shifts, all balanced color. Professional results.

Will this eliminate the red cast to black clothes when in heavy IR environments?
Asked by: David
The Tiffen 77mm Water White Glass NATural IRND 1.2 Filter (4-Stop) won't remove red cast on black clothes if the issue is infrared bleed into the image. In a situation like that I recommend an infrared cut filter like this Hoya 77mm UV and IR Cut Filter. https://bhpho.to/3KzFuD9

question

Can I still easily hood on/off the lens 24-105 G and/or 100-400 GM that has this filter on ?
Asked by: Felix
This filter screws into your front filter threads and is not significantly wider than the front of your lens. Depending on what type of hood you have, you can screw it into the front filter threads on this filter or on the bayonet mount on the end of the lens with no issues.
