I need a replacement lock off knob for this grip head. What is the thread size of the lock off knob to this exact grip head? (The knob that tightens the grip head to the light stand).
Asked by: David
3/8-16. Go to msegrip.com, then go to the "Parts Store" and click on "Hardware." You will see the 2.5 inch grip head. All parts are available to order as replacements. See here: https://products.msegrip.com/blogs/news/center-hollywood-griphead-2-5-350580-center

In addition to the 3/8" & 5/8" holes, the Hollywood grip head has a third - very small - notch that extends through the plate. It's such a small notch and I cant figure what would fit in it. Can anybody tell me the function of this notch? Thanks!
Asked by: Charles
The third and smallest hole is designed to grip onto Fingers and Dots, which are very small scrims and cutters. It can also be used to bite large gauge bailing wire or whatever smaller wire rods one may be working with. Mono-filament line may also be threaded through that hole.

Can this grip head be screwed into a 3/8" typically found on a tripod?
Asked by: Paul
No, the Matthews Hollywood Head - Black - 2-1/2" will not directly screw onto a 3/8" thread. In order to use the grip head on a tripod, you would need to purchase the Kupo 5/8" Stud with 3/8"-16 Female Thread, B&H # KUKG016512 • MFR # KG016512, for your usage needs. https://bhpho.to/3CDdJG8
