No instructions were included and I can't seem to get the eye cup on with the other pieces like it shows in the photo. I reached out to B&H customer service but never received any reply (a great disappointment). The magnifier itself seems to work fairly well although without too much cropping. It's a little uncomfortable on my eye however. I feel like it will cause bruising and give a black eye after a couple hours of heavy photo work. But it could just be a one time thing - maybe it'll toughen up.

Will this eyecup crop out part of the image from view? Will it lose sharpness around the edges leaving it only visibly sharp in the center?

Yes, because it is zooming in on the image it will crop out the view on the edges. The LCD would be able to display the full image if needed.
