Phottix Odin II Transmitter Overview

Realize the full potential of your flash setup by adding wireless triggering and control with the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Transmitter. Compatible with Pentax's TTL flash system and equipped with a 2.4 GHz radio transmission system, the Odin II will communicate and trigger receivers or radio-capable flash units at distances up to 328'. To further benefit users, it can be used in a multi-system setup that involve Odin TTL, Strato, and Strato II receivers as well as Mitros+, Indra360, and Indra 500 lights. A major improvement over the previous model is an expansion of channels and the introduction of the Digital ID which gives further control over channels 5-32 to eliminate interference with other systems.

Embracing TTL communication between the camera and flash, automatic exposures can easily be made and more advanced users can take advantage of manual power and zoom control to dial in the exact look they need. Using the five groups, users can also control different groups and flashes with varying settings as well as mix and match TTL and manual units. All of this is easily accessed via the large LCD screen along with direct access buttons for the groups and a rotary dial for quickly adjusting settings.

Additional features include both high-speed sync for TTL flashes as well as the proprietary OverDrive Sync mode for manual studio strobes, both of which allow users to work at shutter speeds up to 1/8000 second. Also, users will be able to remotely control the modeling light of their Indra TTL strobes as well as use an AF assist light when needed. And, it has a mini-USB port for firmware updates.

TTL information transmission is possible with Odin TTL receiver, Mitros+ flash, and Indra360/500 TTL lights while manual triggering is possible with Strato and Strato II receivers

question

Can it fully control with Pentax system to Rotolight Neo 2 or Anova Pro 2 in a same way with Elinchrom EL-Skyport Plus HS for another brands?
Asked by: Ren H.
No, it will not. Rotolight has a special relationship with Elinchrom allowing the Elinchrom Skyport Radio Receiver to be built inside the Rotolight NEO 2 LED Light and the Rotolight Anova Pro LED Light, and is only fully compatible for use with Elinchrom Skyport Transmitters. There is no Phottix Odin receiver built inside either of the above light fixtures. As such, to use the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Transmitter for Pentax, you would have to connect a Phottix Odin receiver to the sync terminal on the rear of the Rotolight fixture via a miniphone to miniphone (1/8 to 1/8 or 3.5mm to 3.5mm) sync cable. Do note you will not have High Speed Sync with this setup, so your shutter speed would be limited to 1/250 sec or slower.

Which receiver should I use for a Pentax kp. Thanks
Asked by: Jean
Unfortunately, Phottix does not produce a Pentax compatible receiver. They only produce the Phottix Indra500 II TTL Studio Light and Battery Pack Kit, which can be triggered by the Odin II for Pentax. http://bhpho.to/36dOGJH

question

Will the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Transmitter for Pentax be able to control (both firing and P-TTL)a slave Metz 44AF2 flash (Pentax compatible model)? The Phottix transmiter would be attached to the hot shoe of a Pentax K-1 DSLR. Also, does anybody know why Phottix Odin does not make a companion receiver, too (just like it does for Canon and Nikon)?
Asked by: Carlos
This Odin II transmitter requires a receiver to fire Metz 44AF2 flash, being that the transmitter works on a radio frequency. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not provide any information as to why there isn't a Pentax compatible receiver to go along with this transmitter just yet.

question

Is this transmitter compatible with the LumoPro Lp180r?
Asked by: Mauricio
While B&H is not an authorized LumoPro dealer and we do not carry the LP180R Off Camera Flash, according to the manufacturer's website, the LP180R Off Camera Flash features built-in Phottix Odin and Strato II Multi receivers, and would allow remote triggering using Phottix Odin or Strato transmitters without the need for an external receiver. As such, it would be compatible for use with the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger Transmitter for Nikon listed above.

question

Very interested in one question - HSS works in TTL together?
Asked by: IEVGEN
Yes, TTL is required to use High Speed Sync. If your flash does not have TTL, then you would have to use the Phottix Odin II TTL Flash Trigger's Over Drive Sync (or ODS) Mode to achieve shutter speeds above the camera's normal sync speed.
