The Prompter People Flex Plus 17" Teleprompter features a 17" 400 cd/m² reversing monitor, 60/40 beamsplitter glass, and a 20' reading range. Prompter People Flex Plus Overview

The Prompter People Flex Plus 17" Teleprompter features a 17" 400 cd/m² reversing monitor, 60/40 beamsplitter glass, and a 20' reading range. The teleprompter supports nearly any camcorder, ranging from MiniDV to ENG. The teleprompter comes with an aluminum extrusion frame, which enables mounting the camera to the prompter without requiring counterweights. The 60/40 glass and hood can be folded down for transport and storage. You can mount the camera to the prompter and mount that setup to your tripod in a traditional manner, or with an optional FreeStanding kit you can mount your camera to your tripod and separately mount the prompter to a stand in front of your camera.

Flip-Q Pro software, with a dual screen scrolling engine, reverses the secondary PC or Mac laptop output without reversing the operator's display. This enables the use of less expensive non-reversing VGA displays without sacrificing the functionality or performance. It features an RTF text editor, and allows you to import RTF and TXT files. Additionally, Flip-Q Pro software offers color background, color fonts, preset font size, color, style, black and white fonts, user selectable cue points, run lists, run from selected cursor and selectable cue marker. The software comes on a USB dongle so that it can be used on multiple computers. Just plug the dongle into the computer you want to use at a given time.

The 60/40 beamsplitter glass provides a bright overlay of text that your talent can read from up to 20' away, yet the text is invisible to your camera.
Supports nearly any camera ranging from MiniDV to DSLR, and ENG cameras.
Aluminum extrusion frame - provides counterweight-free balance when used with any camera size.
Can be easily folded for secure transport and storage.
Top side camera adjustment - allows you to adjust the position of the camera vertically.
Supports HDMI, VGA, and composite inputs.
Monitor is self-reversing.
Traditional or freestanding mounting is possible. Freestanding mounting is when the glass, hood, and monitor can be mounted on a stand in front of the camera instead of mounting the camera to the prompter and then mounting the entire set up on a tripod. An optional 15mm rod kit and Freestanding kit is required.

A well made unit, that has one minor annoyance. So far I've had no trouble with this unit, it works as advertised, the one annoyance is when I connect via HDMI to my mac, the resolution given is 1920x1080 but the aspect ratio is 4x3 meaning the letters are stretched. Not a deal breaker. Other than that it works as advertised.

The 17 Flex prompter itself is fine. Good sturdy build good instructions on how to assemble this the first time. Good quality build. I will be using this a ton. HOWEVER. The software provided is absolutely HORRIBLE!. I can not over emphasize this. I have been a computer user for over 30 years, beginning on old IBM mainframes. This software is terrible- non intuitive and I could not even figure out any aspect of how to get this to properly function. I am not even sure it really ever installed correctly. I ended up buying a product off the web which functions perfectly installed simply and that really says it all. Doesn't it?? DO NOT waste you money upgrading to the full version of FLIP-Q. Buy a good product for your laptop and follow the recommendations on line. I have been so inspired by this disaster I intend to add a review page to my website to make sure that people are not ripped off like I was. Customer support from Prompter People also did not respond for over 48 hours. Very disappointed in Software- so far satisfied with the Teleprompter it self. If anything changes that I will repost here.

How would you daisy chain two of these together?

You will not be able to daisy chain from one Teleprompter to another. However, you can most certainly get a VGA Distribution Amp. Here is a Kramer product that has 1 VGA input that splits off to 2 VGA outputs. This would be the best way to have 2 Teleprompters showing the same images.https://bhpho.to/2I50Wi6

How is the brightness of the 400 nit version? Is ...

How is the brightness of the 400 nit version? Is it legible outside in sun? Are you happy you bought the 1000 nit, if you did so?

Your use-case/scenario will usually dictate if 400 nits are enough, but generally speaking 400 nits isn't that bright. As a test, if you have a newer smartphone, those typically go up to approximately 700~900 nits. If you are satisfied with its brightness at around 50%, you might be able to get away with the 400 nit model.

Yes. It works as a secondary output. You can mirror your main display and play video and the prompter will display it.
