With CINEMA DSP, you can experience a sound field that allows you to transform the dynamics of the listening environment with the acoustics of famous venues from all around the world.
YPAO Automatic Room Calibration
Every room is different. YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer) is designed to analyze the room acoustics and adjust various audio parameters for optimum sound in just a few minutes Simply place the included microphone where you'll be sitting and run the YPAO calibration.
YPAO Volume
YPAO Volume is engineered to adjust high- and low-frequency levels as the volume changes to help keep the sound natural.
Digital-to-Analog Conversion
The RX-V385 features Burr-Brown PCM5102A 384 kHz / 32-bit DACs with independent power supplies to help it reproduce all the audio in high-resolution sound sources without noise.
Bluetooth Connectivity for Wireless Music Streaming
The RX-V385 is equipped with Bluetooth functionality, allowing you to stream music from your Blu-ray disc, CD, or other source through the receiver to your Bluetooth headphones or speakers. You can pair your devices to the receiver with the included remote control. The receiver also allows you to connect your Bluetooth audio sources for wireless playback.

I plugged in my TV, cable box, DVD player, ROKU and power cable then powered it up and everything just worked. I checked the firmware and it was up to date. I changed the view screen to show Cable Box, DVD and ROKU and that was about it. The ease of operation is great and the sound quality has improved from my previous receiver. The only down side is that I have a phono player that required an addition purchase of a pre-amp, as there is no phono input on this Yamaha A/V receiver....but that was a minor issue. If you don't want to spend a fortune on a A/V receiver I would definitely recommend this Yamaha unit.

Sounds great. limited USB functionality

Receiver sounds great but I'm disappointed that seemingly all home AV receivers lack the USB functionality found in even the cheapest car stereo. Bought this unit for my garage, it will only play one directory of songs at a time. Same issue I have with an older, higher end Yamaha receiver in the house. Had to settle for putting all songs in the USB drive's root directory and choosing random play. At least this model does return to the last song played. Can it be that difficult/expensive to have the same playback capabilities that a car stereo has?

Can an HDMI cable be run FROM the HDMI ARC port on my tv INTO the HDMI ARC out on the receiver? (It is not possible for me to route the cables in the opposite direction).

Yes, it should work depending on the TV. Make sure ARC is enabled on the TV and the receiver.
