Matthews Open End Scrim 24x36" Overview

Open End Frames are made of spring steel with a 3/8" pin and support which can be used to hang the Scrim from the C Stand handle when not in use.

The two upright arms of the frame are slotted at the two open ends to retain the piano wire woven through the fabric to make up the fourth side of the frame without causing a shadow.

Open Ends are used to control or manipulate light falling on certain areas of the set or subject. They can be used to soften or reduce light without a noticeable edge. A color coded binding is used around the frame to identify the fabric.

Open End Frames are black powder coated to minimize unwanted reflections.

Whats the difference between this and B&H #MAS2436CSW thats almost double in price?
Asked by: Joseph
The difference between the two items would be the quality and the light reduction. The Matthews 24 x 36" Open-End Scrim (1/4 White Silk) (B&H # MAS2436QSW • MFR # 149550) has a light reduction of 0.6 stops of light, whereas the more expensive Matthews Open End Scrim - 24x36" - White China Silk (B&H # MAS2436CSW • MFR # 149556) has better build quality and has a light reduction of 1 full stop of light.

It says 1/4 stop silk but in the specs it says two stops of light. Which is it?
Asked by: Jamal
2 1/3 stop at most, depends on the distance of the flag and the light source.

Does this diffuse enough direct sunlight to cover a single interview subject? Or is 48x48 better?
Asked by: Jason
We would highly suggest a 48x48 to accommodate you subject matter needs. A 24x36 would not give enough space coverage as needed.
