Found in: Basic Laptops

The 15.6" IdeaPad 330s Notebook from Lenovo is a well-rounded system capable of handling everyday tasks such as browsing the internet, streaming TV shows and movies, and video chatting with friends and family. Powered by a 2.2 GHz Intel Core i3-8130U dual-core processor and 6GB of DDR4 RAM, it can efficiently multitask and quickly access frequently used files and programs. For storing your documents, movies, and data, it has a 1TB 5400 rpm hard drive. Should you need more space, you can connect external storage solutions using its multiple USB ports, as well as its 4-in-1 media card reader, which can also be used to quickly transfer files from mobile devices.

Its 15.6" display, driven by integrated Intel UHD graphics, has a 1920 x 1080 resolution and is built with an IPS panel, delivering crisp, clear HD content. An HDMI port lets you connect an additional monitor for better multitasking or larger viewing. Connect to the internet via 802.11ac Wi-Fi and pair compatible wireless peripherals using Bluetooth 4.1 technology to free up its USB ports for more important devices. Other integrated features include a webcam, speakers, a microphone, and an audio in/out combo jack. The operating system installed is Windows 10 Home.

Windows 10 Home

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Cortana
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    Lenovo IdeaPad 330S reviews

    15.6" IdeaPad 330s Notebook is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! Best bang for the buck! Before this one I was using an ASUS F510UA, but the IdeaPad caught my eyes for the price/performance relation. Pros - IPS Screen - 8th Gen CPU - RAM and SSD are super easy to upgrade, it has a free M.2 slot and a SATA slot (where the 1 Tb HDD is installed). And, there's an easy access to the RAM, you can remove the 2 Gb and switch for a greater one. - 15' screen in a small size, fits my CaseLogic 14' Backpack. - Great keyboard, and a numpad! Cons - Not backlit keyboard (for the price, I can live without it). I've installed a SanDisk 240 Gb SSD and add a 4 Gb of RAM to have 8 in total.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Returned I was not pleased with it in a few ways that made me return it. For at-home, light-load computing, this thing is alright. Just beware of having Windows 10, a fairly bloated OS, on a 5400 RPM HDD. -The construction of it was not level, and as I typed, the whole computer wobbled and clicked upon the surface of the table. It was RMAed for that reason. -The laptop's cooling fan was too noisy for the classroom environment that I needed to use it in. I'm not just being picky here... -The hard drive is bottle-necking the entire computer, but in all fairness, I should have realized before purchasing. It takes years to do most tasks. Just Google it. A cheap SSD would make this laptop miles better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet Price, Sweet Computer I shopped all over for a 330s with full HD display and found none that didn't cost hundreds more than this one -- and most of those had the crummy 768 x 1366 display. As expected, the hard drive was dog slow, so the first thing I did was to replace it with an SSD, easily enough done. A clean install of Windows 10 went smoothly and provided all needed drivers, so now it is a nice fast machine with no extraneous software. My wife likes it so much I ordered a second one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it !!! I found the HDD was a slower one. I upgraded it to SSD and got a great performance. I found an issue regarding bluetooth mouse constantly losing connectivity. I had Lenovo troubleshoot the problem and they asked me to send it repair but when I checked the forums it was a setting under Bluetooth chip under Windows device manager. Removed the power saving and mouse works fine. Pros 1. Light weight and Design 2. Great Performance 3. Good Price 4. 8th Gen CPU Cons 1. Missing back lit keyboard I love BH for Price, Great Service, Ease of shipped to Canada

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Laptop..... Bought this as a replacement to my wife's 6 year old HP laptop, so it didn't have to be incredible to please her. The screen just pops, it is light weight and seems very durable. I removed the 1TB Sata drive and installed a 1 TB SSD, and it boots in 2 or 3 seconds....so fast. I added a USB to Ethernet adapter that came with 3 additional USB 3.0 ports, and now it has it's own pseudo docking station. For $399....it is....in my opinion....one of the best laptops for the money. With a SSD upgrade, you just can't touch it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 5 stars with an SSD I got the 330s on sale for $350. It's a bit slow with the 5400rpm drive that came with it. I spent another $100 to put a 500GB SSD in it, and now it's a fairly capable machine. Boots up in about 2-3 seconds, and doesn't lag while loading anything. The display is really nice, which is what attracted me to the machine in the first place. I'm primarily using it for video calls, and streaming from my desktop via Steam. I would have given this 5 stars, but honestly it was pretty annoying to use for the hour I had the 5400rpm drive in it. If it even had a 128GB SSD instead of the 1TB HDD, I'd easily give it 5 stars. That said, it's a decent machine with a nice display, so the price makes it worth the trouble of adding the SSD to make it usable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little laptop! Some things that I noticed: Pros: IPS screen, thin bezels, the entire laptop is thin & lightweight Cons: somewhat noisy fan, awkward placement of speakers (on the side & towards the bottom of the laptop) I'm a multimedia guy; so I'm picky on audio and video. I specifically wanted a laptop with an IPS screen. I do notice a slight lag on startup and loading apps, but that's probably due to the HDD and the cpu. Not a problem at this price point. And, I'd rather have the capacity of a 1TB HDD, rather than a SSD.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good laptop - only after adding a SSD! Had to endure 5 days of a slow laptop until my Mushkin Pilot -120GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 (2280) Gen 3 x 4 internal SSD arrived. Installed it as my primary boot drive in the M.2 2280 slot (Windows only took up 80 GB) and kept the 1 TB WDC 5400rpm HD as my storage drive. Now, it boots up real fast and my favorite apps launch real quick. See the bench mark results from CrystalDiskMark. The 1080P IPS display is the primary reason I chose this laptop. It is very nice display unlike others in the same price range. Since this is my travel laptop and only use a few basic applications, the Intel Core i3 8130 with 6 GB RAM is more than sufficient for my needs. Buy this laptop only if you plan on adding an SSD. Fairly straightforward for those reasonably tech savvy.
