SLR Magic MicroPrime Cine 35mm T1.3 Overview

  • 1Description

Choosing a smaller size over bulk and weight, the SLR Magic MicroPrime Cine 35mm Lens covers full-frame sensors and features a Sony E-mount. Suitable for 4K origination, each lens in the MicroPrime Cine series features similar size and weight with consistent lens gear positions for rapid lens changes and easier re-balancing when changing lenses on a gimbal.

The lens incorporates a 13-blade iris that provides a pleasing bokeh with natural-looking, out-of-focus highlights. The odd number of iris blades also reduces the appearance of flare off the blades. The lens has an internal focus design so the front of the lens doesn't rotate when focusing, and it has an 85mm outer diameter for compatibility with a wide number of clip-on matte boxes.

Each lens in the MicroPrime Cine series features similar balance characteristics, minimizing recalibration when switching lenses while your camera is on a gimbal.
Internal focus mechanism minimizes breathing and prevents the front of the lens from rotating while pulling focus
An 82mm front filter thread enables mounting filters directly to the lens without using a matte box

SLR Magic MicroPrime Cine 35mm T1.3 Reviews

    MicroPrime Cine 35mm T1.3 (E-Mount) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens for the price. I have had this for 3 months and this lens is fantastic for what I use it for which is video - the image is very sharp. If youre OK with manual focus then this is a great alternative to the more expensive glass with autofocus.  The lens is very heavy compared to the Sigma Art Lens 35mm 1.8 but you get used to it.  When I first got this lens the focus ring was very stiff, but eventually loosened up to provide a smooth focus.  Best of all that all the CINE lens are standard so the T stop  will be the same with other SLR Magic line of lenses.  Of course you can use it for stills - but you will have the manual focus to deal with which can be a humbling lesson in patience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from „Dont underestimate my power!“ First thing to say is, that this lens is not low quallity lens, as you may read or hear in most of the reviews. People highlight chromatic aberation, vignetting, not very sharp edges, lens distortion and poor build quallity. But I dont care. Chromatic aberation is not visible almost at all, I didnt notice any vignetting since I was not filming against white wall, and edges are sharp enough. Do you know what? This lens is sharpest I have ever had. I love the the bit of a chromatic aberation and the bit of a lens distortion, which is what we can see in Inception movie also. This lens has unique character, and was not created for all perfect photographers. Its flaws are what makes the lens perfect for me. They have that uniqe filmic look, which you can see on much pricier lens for cinema cameras. That is exactly what the lens do and what I was looking for. The price is $599 by now, and since I am from Europe, it was $899 for me (tax and shipment included). Does it pay off even with $200 for tax and shipment? Well, if you consider buying this lens and need to hear encouragement from someone, well, I give you one - Go and buy the lens! Its worth it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dont underestimate this little boy! My first impression? Great. If I digitally zoom in, I see very little chromatic aberation, vignetting is not very much visible since I dont film against white walls, and I see no sharpness loss... actually this is the sharpest lens Ive ever had. The price? Worth it. Totally. If youre wondering should I buy, or not? - I tell you.. GO AHEAD!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from arty these have characteristics of modern clinical lenses and old imperfect lenses - just take a look online at some footage to see if you like what they do - they seem to make the Sony footage look more like black magic footage to me - distinct compression and contrast and color - a vibe lens build is good - not nearly like a cooke, etc. but seems like itll hold up in normal working conditions - gears a lil funky but not bad so far great value for what you get all together light and compact and good on stabilizer

What settings I have to use in the camera to be recognized by this lenses?
    Asked by: David
This is a fully manual lens that does not communicate electronically with the camera. You have to control the focus and aperture on the lens itself.

What about the focus breathe? If it has then any comparison to any of the photography lens?
    Asked by: Santu
While this is a great option for a Cinema Lens at an affordable price, you should expect to see breathing within your shots when changing focus.
