  • Bolt Cyclone PocketMax PP-1000 Compact Power Pack

Providing up to 1000 full-power pops, the pack boasts recycling times as fast as 1.5 seconds even with most power-hungry units at full power, with this time considerably shrinking at lower power settings.

Battery levels can be checked at any time thanks to three LED indicators and a battery indicator button, all found at the top. The unit also comes with a USB adapter for charging common gadgets such as your phone or tablet with the pack, and a custom-made carrying pouch with a belt loop so you can easily carry everything around.

Note: A dedicated power cord is required to connect the PP-1000 to your Canon, Nikon, or Sony flash unit.

Bolt Cyclone PocketMax PP-1000 reviews

Cyclone PocketMax PP-1000 Compact Power Pack and Nikon Power Cable Kit is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact/Portable Power - Bolt Cyclone This Power Pack does what it says. Faster Recycle times, more power and portable. I did not burn it out by testing how many pops I could get with it but they estimate up to approx. 1000 Full Power flashes. The faster recycle times and longer life is a plus for me. I mainly use studio style strobes but this is great when those are not an option. I mainly shoot with Canon and Sony but I do not own or plan to own any of the Sony flashes that were currently compatible so I stuck with the Canon cable kit. Plus, its compatible with most of the common Canon flashes. I like how it comes with a sturdy case and power cables. The usb adaptor it comes with allows you to even power up your phone or tablet on the go. The build of the actual Bolt Pack is solid and mainly metal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small, light and oodles of power Most people using external battery packs for Speedlights and hot shoe flash units are primarily concerned with battery life and number of pops from a full charge. This battery doesn't disappoint. I didn't test the number of pops but I can tell you that I popped my Nikon SB-900 several hundred times at full power and was able to fully charge my iPhone 8 Plus and still have power to pop the flash another hundred or so, with battery life to spare. Another great thing is that this sucker is small and easy to carry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design flaw? The unit definitely has great functionality as far as power output. The half-dozen times I've used it, so far, it has done a great job. My issue is with the "connector" that attaches to the unit. I have had nothing but trouble getting it to screw in. I don't know if the threads are too far down, or if the module had the threads too far up, but I try and try to tighten it, and cannot, therefore when I'm using it attached to my belt, the cord pulls out of the unit! Even more so when I try to use the auxiliary USB module. I can't even get that close to attaching. Works fine if I'm shooting on tripod, and just plug it in and don't touch or move the power pack.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pocket Power Got this unit as a back up to try due to size and weight and price. Photographing a prom with fresh eneloop AA batteries in a Nikon SB910, I took 900+ photos with the flash and the Cyclone Power Max still showed full charge at the end of the night. I was impressed. I am a bit skeptical of the power cord from batt to flash. I would like to see a little heavier cord just for durability. Time will tell how the cord holds up. I would recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lightweight, simple, powerful Its a whole lot smaller than the Quantum's of yesteryear, simple to use and recycles quickly. Case fits nicely, has velcro to connect it to things. cables are pretty secure, the flash end clicks in nicely though doesn't take advantage of the binding threads... likely not a problem though as it clicks in. I only use one of these a few times a year but it seems it will make life easier... and the USB plug is a nice bonus in case my phone dies?
