Can I mount a Sony FDR AX1 not the 100 on this Stabilizer?
The Sony weighs just under seven pounds with the large battery. I am especially concerned with the width of the camcorder to the mounting plate.
We would not recommend this gimbal with a camcorder the shape and size of the Sony FDR-AX1. The shape of camera is just as important as the weight and this gimbal is designed to handle Mirrorless and DSLR style camera bodies. It will not be able to balance a camcorder like the AX1. You would need to look at larger, 2 handed options like the Letus 35 Helix Jr with Standard Camera Plate for that camcorder.

The literature on Pilotfly states that with a Battery Dock (Not available yet) you can use the hand as a wireless controller. What is the maximum distance this will work at?
We do not have the details on the Battery Dock for the Adventurer at this time. However we do know that the remote will work over a 2.4ghz RC range. That range tends to be around 300 feet when used outside.

Yes, it does. The Adventurer has an All Lock Mode in which the Camera stays in its current orientation. We are aware of any particular speed for this gimbal, but do know that it can rotate 360 degrees.
