MuxLab 4x1 4K/60 HDMI Switcher Reviews

Amending review: Problems switching from 4K source

The switcher appears to be solidly constructed. The remote control works well. Buttons are provided for direct selection of the input source and the audio mode, and the settings persist across power cycles, both of which are important for A/V integration. I previously submitted a review indicating an incompatibility with the Portta HDMI 1.3 component-video-to-HDMI converter. That turned out to not be my problem. The switcher works fine with the Portta, but when my 4K source (a DirecTV Genie 4K client) is the current selection, selecting an HD source produces a blank screen. Power cycling the switch restores the HD image. I was in touch with MuxLab (whose customer support is excellent, by the way) and they were not able to reproduce the problem, so I returned the unit.

Well made, but not compatible with all HDMI sources

The switcher appears to be solidly constructed. The remote control works well. Buttons are provided for direct selection of the input source and the audio mode, and the settings persist across power cycles, both of which are important for A/V integration. The switcher appears to not be compatible with one of my HDMI sources, a Portta HDMI 1.3 component-video-to-HDMI converter. Only a blank screen is produced. The converter works fine when plugged directly into the display. I have reached out to MuxLab for suggestions, but I have not received any reply. Still trying.

Asked by: Matt
No, the MuxLab 4x1's RCA outputs would only be capable of outputting stereo analog audio.
