Powered by a removable lithium-ion battery pack, the X9R's six Cree XHP70.2 LEDs produce up to 25,000 lumens—an output so powerful that the light automatically reduces brightness when it is too near an object, to avoid causing damage. At lower outputs, the batteries yield impressive runtimes.

The light functions at eight output levels, from the 25,000-lumen peak (which drops back to 6400 lumens after three minutes to avoid damage or injury) to a 200-lumen low setting with a runtime of 27 hours.
