Thule 3203626 overview

  • 1Description

The mineral Thule Covert DSLR Rolltop Backpack can hold a DSLR with a lens attached plus an additional two lenses, a flash, and accessories. The top of the bag rolls up to save space, or can be expanded when you need the extra room. The folding divider system in the main compartment is customizable, and is part of the SafeZone removable pod system that has a dual density padded bottom to protect your gear. The main compartment can be accessed from either the side flap or from the top of the bag. When the pod is removed and the internal divider is unzipped, the interior becomes one large compartment. The bag also has a padded pocket to fit a 15" laptop and a tablet. Multiple pockets on the bag hold items such as keys, books and even a bicycle U-lock.

The water-resistant bag has adjustable shoulder straps and a sternum strap for added comfort when carrying heavy loads. The interior padded dividers are bright blue, making it easy to find loose gear. Compression straps reduce the size of the bag when it is not fully loaded. A tripod can be stored in the side pocket, or with the compression straps. A reflective logo on the back of the bag helps you to be seen when wearing the bag at night.

Can also be configured for a midsize DSLR body with attached ultra-wide-angle lens, and a DJI Mavic Pro or similar sized drone/accessory

    Thule 3203626 reviews

Covert DSLR Rolltop Backpack (Mineral) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bag, Not the best for daily use :) Overall the bag is great, quality is great and comfortable loaded with gear. But, If you are looking for a daily bag ( I was ) its not the best. For example a water bottle doesn't hold well in the side pocket, getting to the front pockets require you too unclip every-time. Front pockets are a little small and tight. Ultimately the bag is great if you are hiking or traveling where you rarely need access to anything besides your camera. The Main feature of the side camera pocket works great for quickly being able to access your camera and capture a moment by simply taking off your right should strap and swinging the bag over :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Travel / Daypack It's large, but holds a ton of stuff. The camera compartment only holds the bare essentials, so if you're looking to carry a lot of photo gear, this isn't the bag for you. I have a Sony A7ii, Sony Zeiss 55mm f1.8, Samyang 85mm f1.4, and Contax Zeiss 28mm f2.8 all stored in the camera compartment with a bit of room to spare. The top, roll compartment can hold an entire weekend worth of stuff without problem. My 15 MBP fits in the laptop section easily. The extra pockets are plentiful and useful. Above all it is EXTREMELY comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Built like a tank I've had this bag for almost two years now. It's been my go-to bag for lots of shoots. But I have my reservations to call it "almost perfect" Pros: -probably can't beat the build quality. -Pretty good on rainy weather. I've never had any issues with wet gear after going on hikes for hours on end -Laptop compartment -tripod pocket is better than a simple loop like other backpacks have Cons: -Like the headline says, it's built like a tank. That also means that at 5lbs it is heavier than any other camera bag I've owned. -Not the best hiking backpack. Waist straps could help out distribute the weight -Front pockets are very slim and don't allow much storage for little pieces of gear

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Close to perfection This pack almost fits the bill of the 'perfect' travel/urban camera backpack. Almost. Though no such thing exists this ticks off many marks for me. The side camera access is nice and the roll top compartment has a lot of room for storage of a jacket or fleece. At 6' 1 and 215 pounds it was nice to finally find a camera bag that fits my torso and doesn't look tiny on me. The Covert has a ton of pockets - almost too many as I forget sometimes where I put my batteries or filters. I feel like I discover a new pocket every time I pull this pack out for better or worse. As far as negatives go, the exclusion of a hip belt on a somewhat beefy pack is a head scratcher. You can really weight this thing down and all the load on your shoulders will get painful/annoying. My own kit is light these days (Fuji) so the bulk of the weight is often water, tripod and the backpack itself. The camera storage pockets are a little stiff but at least your gear is secure. To make this bag closer to perfect would be to add a hip belt with pockets and perhaps reduce the beefiness of the bag to lighten it up. It is built like a tank but doesn't need to be. Lighter materials and a little less bulk around the pocket closures and lose the flaps in some locations in place of zippers. For comparison I also have a f-stop gear Kenti which is similar but smaller in capacity/size. If I could somehow merge the features of these two packs into one I think we'd have a true winner. Overall highly recommended but some refinements could go a long way. (didn't purchase from B&H but as a long time customer felt a review was necessary)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing bag, just too big for my needs and taste. This bag is very well designed--I like the appearance and storage design (bottom half for camera gear, top half for miscellaneous items). It is very important to me to be able to access gear through the sides without having to take off the backpack. But I ended up returning the bag simply because of the physical size. It really is too big to be considered a personal item on an airplane. I travel a lot and rarely check my bags. This backpack is the same size as my rollaboard luggage bag. In addition, this bag weighs 5 lbs. After a day of walking around, every pound will make a difference. If Thule ever makes a bag exactly like this but smaller, I will buy it without hesitation. Unfortunately I returned this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A fantastic bag for the amateur or pro. I am a professional wedding photographer. I don't always need a rolley full of gear for my shoots. I like having a body along with 2 to 3 lenses. This bag can carry that and more! The quality is top notch. Thule never disappoints in that regard. There are many pockets to keep your gear organized. The top pouch can hold a lot of stuff. The only thing I would say is the case for the camera and the lenses can be hard to access. If you have a battery grip, the camera doesn't fit as easily. This is minor, however. I would buy this bag over and over again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, but consider when you'll use it. Great bag, very durable - used it recently for a US Hong Kong trip to carry lenses and a 1D, primarily for extended on-foot transportation to and from to the worksite. The durability comes with a price, this bag is large and heavy even when empty. This will not sit under a seat as a carry-on bag. I do think it is the best protection you're going to get for a camera and lenses in a backpack that's relatively portable. To give you a sense of what the camera compartment can hold, I needed to carry a 1D, Canon 70-200 f/2.8, Canon 24-70 f/2.8. The removable inserts allowed me to stow that equipment properly. Bottom line - really well made (and pretty good looking), but bulky and heavy so consider how you plan to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just buy it.... I bought mine a few months ago and absolutely love this bag. After searching for the right bag for a long time, I finally took a leap and ordered this one. Not much I can say that other reviewers haven't already said. Excellent build quality, functional, comfortable, great ergonomics. You will not regret buying this bag. And while some have mentioned the weight, and it is heavy (especially when you pack in your gear), it is much heavier when you pick it up then when you put it on. Once on, it feels much lighter on your back. That said, there are only a couple of minor tweaks that i would like. first would be the addition of a small mesh pocket inside the upper compartment for small items...not a big deal. Next, i would like to have some built in locking mechanism for the camera compartment zipper. Fortunately, the closed position of the zipper is at the top of the front, which seem to me to be the safest. A workaround is to get a small lock and connect the zipper pull with the strap right next to it. Next, this bag is super comfortable, but i would like a little bit more padding in the lower back/lumbar area. this would keep the bag a little farther out from the middle of the back and allow you to hold some of the weight on the hips/back area to remove a little shoulder weight. Last, and this may be too much to ask for, is to be able use the laptop compartment for a water bladder instead. This may fundamentally alter the nature of the bag, so as i said, this one may not be practical or even desirable for some, but just something i thought of while carrying the bag on a really hot day. Overall though, I LOVE this bag, and have never regretted this purchase for a second.
