Vienna Symphonic Library Synchron Strings I Full Library - Virtual Instrument (Download)

The Vienna Symphonic Library Synchron Strings I Full Library is a virtual instrument with a library that accurately captures the sound and expressiveness of multiple string sections expertly performed by the members of the Synchron Stage Orchestra and recorded with the signature ambience of the Synchron Stage Vienna scoring stage.

Synchron Strings I Full Library offers sections of 1st violins (14), 2nd violins (10), violas (8), cellos (8), and double basses (6) recorded separately at their designated positions on stage. Engineers employed eight separate phase-coherent microphone configurations, recorded simultaneously to provide a broad range of room sound options. All mic configurations can be mixed to create stereo, 5.1 surround, or 9.1 Auro 3D mixes, each with different levels of ambience and stereo panorama, from close and focused, to broad and epic.

The library comprises a wide variety of timbres and articulations including realistic legato performance, sforzando, pizzicato, vibrato, and more. The notes are sampled with up to eight velocity layers and ten variations, from pianissimo to fortissimo and everything in between. Performances are recorded and edited at "fixed gain", ensuring that all pitches, dynamic layers, articulations, and instruments precisely match with each other.

The Synchron Strings I Full Library is powered by the included Vienna Instruments player and Vienna Ensemble mixing host.

Advanced Release Sample Technology

Capturing notes with all velocities, various tone lengths, and subtle nuances is a challenge in the art of piano sampling. It's particularly tricky when recording the instrument with the ambience of a scoring stage. Vienna's Release Sample Technology comes to the rescue for this situation. A proprietary technique, this technology automatically matches up to 300 individual, finely-grained release samples per key to your played notes. The result is a realistic playing feel and an exacting degree of timbral authenticity.

Customize Your Personal Sound

The Yamaha CFX comes with a dedicated sample player that allows you to shape your sound. This software provides a musician-friendly user interface that allows for quick and easy timbral control. Create your sound intuitively by filtering particular key ranges—or even single keys—adjusting the body resonance of the instrument, or adding a pinch of algorithmic reverb.

Precision and Consistency in Sampling Phase

The recording phase of this Yamaha CFX grand piano project extended over several months, which demanded absolute consistency within the room. To protect the piano’s environment and ensure reliable recordings, Synchron Stage Vienna’s integrated system for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) provided very consistent climatic conditions throughout the entire recording process.

Furthermore, all samples were recorded using the instrument’s integrated, computer-controlled performance reproducing system. Its noncontact optical sensors detected every movement of all 88 keys (position, velocity and release velocity), as well as the pedals (including half-pedaling) with precision, reproducing delicate nuances of a human performance. Additional hammer sensor-feedback allowed for accurate reproduction of special playing techniques such as rapid note repetition and softly played notes.

What’s more, over the course of several months, Vienna Symphonic Library team members were trained in preparing and tuning the grand piano accurately by Vienna’s leading piano technicians in order to achieve absolutely consistent tuning and sound characteristics during the entire recording process.
