Capable of supporting larger DSLR cameras, with or without a battery grip, the CAMVATE Adjustable Universal Camera Cage with Quick Release Baseplate provides protection, comfortable operation, and a plethora of mounting points. The height-adjustable cage enables you to adjust it to snugly fit your DSLR camera as it can expand from almost 3.5 to over 8" in height, leaving plenty of room for you to use a battery grip with your camera. The cage is machined from an aluminum alloy for a positive balance between weight and durability.
In addition to the textured rubber grips that provide both comfort and a good gripping surface, this two-handed cage incorporates a Manfrotto-compatible quick release baseplate. This allows you to mount the cage on a tripod or other support, and then quickly release the camera from the cage and mount it on a tripod or other support with a Manfrotto-compatible quick release mechanism. The cage features a built-in top plate for mounting accessories.

Nice and versatile!
This cage is really nice. It is highly configurable, solidly made and at a great price. What more can I say other than perfect for our needs.
Versatility
This frame has an incredible amount of versatility for adjusting its size to hold and shield the larger framed cameras. This requires a tripod that is known for its stability and a professional video head equal to the Manfrotto MVH500AH or its equivalent, or even better. Regardless when used in studio or field environments, this frame is actually capable of mounting more than one camera and still offers plenty of space available for adding several accessories commonly used for photography..... The overall adjustment possibilities are quite extensive with height ranging from 6 to 9 inches. Height can still be extended even more simply by replacing the standard 15mm rods that slide inside the handles with a set of rods up to 18, also readily available from B&H Photo..... Standard width is 10.5 but does not necessarily exclude using a wider camera because of the added forward and rearward adjustment of the base. The base is provided with a Manfrotto 501 style quick release plate and can be raised or lowered using the adjustable slide screw located between the rods. The base can also be moved sideways for centering between the two outer handles. A top plate is also provided with an adjustable cold shoe insert that can provide a very solid anchor for the camera when fastened to the hot shoe receptacle..... Industry standards allow for using components from the various brands to mix & match with this unit for even more protection and versatility. There are several component bundles that can be added to the C1772 for better handling and offer even better protection for the lens or LCD screen. Using a few low cost add-ons, my camera now has an immense amount of protection in case of tripod tip over so the impact will be absorbed by the frame and will not impact the camera directly. For risky instances I'm also not beyond using bubble wrap or foam padding, but still need protection from rain or (heaven forbid) being dunked in the pond.
