The Android operating system integrates heavily with Google's services. Using the card-based Google Now, Android quickly surfaces information for you whenever you need it, powered by the same Knowledge Engine that runs Google's web search. It's a personalized and customizable OS, allowing you to add your favorite apps or widgets to your home screen. You can even download new themes using the Google Play Store, which offers access to more than one million apps, games, books, music, movies, and more. Android 7.1 Nougat adds major productivity capabilities to the operating system in the form of a multi-window view, which allows for two apps to be placed onscreen at a time. An improved notification system allows you to interact with texts and emails right from your notification pane - without needing to open the app. Other features include file-based encryption, a Data Saver mode, the ability to scale text and icons to better suit your phone's screen, and more.

This phone is designed to work on select GSM and CDMA networks and is 4G LTE capable. LTE is an advanced cellular network data protocol capable of data speeds so fast that they compete with wired broadband Internet providers. With an LTE connection, this phone should have no problem streaming HD video, downloading apps, uploading photos, or anything else that requires a high-speed data connection. The phone is also backwards compatible with 3G and 2G data for instances when you can't get LTE.

The LG K30 will run on any GSM network that uses cell frequencies this phone supports. However, the K30 may not work on certain CDMA carriers even if they support the same frequencies. The K30's LTE radio is tuned to frequencies that are most often used in the United States and North America. It can also be used in other parts of the world; however, LTE access may be limited or unsupported, depending on the network. The K30 gives you the ability to more easily access your phone with features like Knock On, Fingerprint ID, and Google Smart Lock. Knock On lets you sleep or wake your phone with a simple double-tap of the screen, and when you wake the phone, it can stay unlocked automatically with Google Smart Lock. Smart Lock keeps it unlocked when you're connected to a trusted device, such as your laptop or desktop, or when in a trusted location, such as your home. When outside trusted areas, Fingerprint ID keeps things secure while giving you one-step access to your content.

Prop up your K30 to take hands-free selfies with built-in features like Gesture Shot, Auto Shot, Cheese Shutter, and Gesture Interval Shot. Auto Shot uses face detection to snap a selfie, while Gesture Shot snaps a pic with a simple hand gesture, and Cheese Shutter snaps one by using your voice. To give you more control and time to prepare your selfies, Gesture Interval Shot will take four selfies on a timer. All you must do is make a fist twice to start the countdown. These hands-free options give you more freedom to take the selfies you want, and farther way than the length of your arm.
