FotodioX RBRZ67-SNYE-PRO Reviews

This will focus, adjust aperture, and adapt RB lenses well.

The RB67 system lenses are some of the absolute best available and, if we don't mind going back to a (mostly) manual experience, this adapter may be for us. Looking at historical lines/mm sharpness resolution tests; they show that almost all lenses perform remarkably better in the center of the field of view. With an approximate 2:1(reverse), crop factor and a HUGE image circle (~ 88mm), we can see we are using the sweet spot of these RB67 lenses. Note: A 50mm RB67 lens yields an approximate 100mm effective focal length on a 35 mm image circle. So wide angle is not within the realm of this adaptation. However, telephoto is where this adapter will shine.  This adapter has a helical focuser and a shutter cocking mechanism built in. It is not obvious at first, but if you turn the smooth front part of the adapter, we are able to cock and release the shutter and use the lens’s aperture adjustment, as well as hold the aperture wide open. I use the “T” setting to hold the shutter open, and let the camera do the rest. (light metering and exposure compensation; via ISO adjustment and shutter speed). I am using a Sony A7II. The adapter itself is well made and it does reach infinity focus with the 50-, 90-, 180-, and 360-mm RB lenses. The helical focuser is smooth, but it needs a bit of additional support on the lens to work like butter. I usually just give the lens itself a bit of upwards pressure when using handheld. (hold the lens and move the camera back and forth). The adapter will do it, but it is more luxurious when relieving it of some weight. Using this as a system is not “point and shoot” this is a step back in time and works quite well for mild telephoto to extreme telephoto shots. 100-720mm, or more, (depending on lenses) Remember, no auto focus, no auto aperture adjustment. I have used this exclusively with the RB system lenses, and cannot comment on the RZ system, but if the manufacturer says it will work, I have no reason to believe it will not. The adapter does have markings on it for the RZ system. In conclusion, I am very happy with this adapter and am glad it is offered. It is fun to use and helps to merge the absolute best of vintage with the modern. A true bargain in my humble opinion.

very good for using the rb lens and rz lens
