ASUS Republic of Gamers G21 Huracan overview

  • 1Description

The Republic of Gamers G21 Huracan Desktop Computer from Asus is a compact yet powerful system built for gamers. While it may be small, it's equipped with high-end hardware such as a 3.2 GHz Intel Core i7-8700 six-core processor, 16GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. Thanks to its dedicated GPU, the Huracan can handle graphically demanding games at high resolutions and high frame rates. If you would like to upgrade its components, you can easily remove the side panels to access its components.

For storage, it's equipped with a 512GB M.2 SSD and a 1TB hard drive. Should you need more room, you can connect external storage solutions using its multiple USB ports as well as install drives of your own. Connect to the internet via 802.11ac Wi-Fi or with Gigabit Ethernet LAN for a more stable and reliable wired connection. Pair compatible wireless peripherals with Bluetooth 5.0 to free up its USB ports for more important devices. Other integrated features include HDMI, DisplayPort, and DVI outputs, multiple audio ports, a SuperMulti DVD drive, and Asus Aura Sync RGB LED lighting. The operating system installed is Windows 10 (64-Bit).

Design
The ROG Huracan is built with high-performance hardware in a 13-liter chassis for a powerful yet compact system. It features an aggressive, angular design and a magnetically-secured right cover that can be opened for improved heat dissipation.
Upgradability
To upgrade this system, you can remove both side panels to access its internal components. It also features a hot-swap 2.5" SSD bay on top that you can use to quickly and easily swap out drives as needed.
Cooling
Front, top, and bottom air intakes provide the Huracan with fresh, cool air to help keep things cool, which is especially important in such a compact case like this.
Aura Sync Lighting
Equipped with Asus Aura Sync lighting, the Huracan can be customized as you wish. Choose from a palette of 16 million colors, multiple lighting effects, and even sync them with your other RGB-equipped peripherals.
Audio
The built-in ESS Sabre DAC and amplifier supports 32-bit/384 kHz audio for rich and detailed audio. Its low frequency sounds are louder, its higher end is more detailed, and it also offers an expanded dynamic range as well as a higher signal-to-noise ratio for less distorted audio. Use the optional Sonic Studio III software to enhance your listening experience, simulate virtual 7.1-channel surround sound, and much more.
Multi-Monitor Gaming
The graphics card in the ROG Huracan is equipped with multiple video output ports including: HDMI, DisplayPort, and DVI. Use them to connect multiple monitors for enhanced multitasking and an expanded field-of-view in games.
Software
  • Aegis III system performance monitoring application
  • XSplit GameCaster gameplay recording, streaming, and sharing software
  • GameFirst V network prioritization and management software

Windows 10

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Cortana
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana, can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.
