Levenhuk Bruno PLUS overview

  • 1Description

Designed to deliver a performance similar to smaller refractor telescopes, the Levenhuk 20x80 Bruno PLUS Astronomy Binocular is an ideal optic for lunar or planetary viewing, comet hunting, tracking the ISS and satellites across the sky, or spotting iridium flares—all with the advantage of viewing with both eyes open. The binocular is also perfect for terrestrial use across expansive distances.

The large over-sized lenses draw in tremendous amounts of light and, combined with the 20x power, produce a comfortable exit pupil that will cover most pupils, even in the dark on moonless nights. The larger objectives also help to compensate for the dimming that often happens when looking at smaller subjects at long range. Anti-reflection fully coated optics, a wide field of view, and a traditional Porro prism optical path all work together to produce an immersive and comfortable observational experience, featuring bright and clear high-contrast views with accurate color rendition and a rich depth of field. The wide field of view helps to mitigate the appearance of visible hand shake that is common with large and high-power optics, for clearer views.

Due to the large objectives and long optical tubes, the Bruno PLUS weighs in at almost  6 pounds, so the binocular is outfitted with a center stabilizer bar. The bar keeps the optical tubes parallel to ensure proper optical alignment and has a 1/4"-20 mount for direct attachment to telescope mount heads and photo/video/field tripod heads. The tripod mount can be moved along the bar's length to properly balance the weight and make movement smoother with less vibration. Its optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to a waterproof IPX6 rating and resistant to internal fogging. The chassis is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy and wrapped in a protective slip-resistant rubber armor. Three-position twist-up click-stop rubber eyecups enable precise eye relief settings even for those who wear corrective eyewear or sunglasses.

Whether you want to view the sky above or count the points on a buck cresting the next rise, the Bruno PLUS provides the performance you need.

Optical Performance
  • Powerful 20x magnification is ideal for wide-field astronomical observation, lunar viewing, comet hunting, or watching meteor showers, the ISS, or satellite flybys, and it enables detailed observations of extremely distant subjects
  • Over-sized 80mm objective lenses ensure bright views even in extremely low light and when viewing distant subjects
  • Traditional Porro prism optical path presents a rich depth of field to produce lifelike views
  • BAK4 prism glass delivers a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Anti-reflection fully coated optics improve light transmission, color rendition, clarity, and contrast
  • 5-element/3-group eyepiece, 2-element/1-group objective lens design
  • Extra-wide 64° apparent angle of view helps to minimize the distracting hand shake that is common when holding large and powerful optics such as this
  • 169-foot field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
  • Slip-resistant center-focusing wheel is easy to manipulate, even when wearing gloves
  • ±6 right-eye dioptric correction allows for precise focusing even for those who normally require corrective eyewear
  • 60-70mm interpupillary distance adjustment range
  • Three-position twist-up click-stop eyecups enable precise eye relief settings, even for those who use them while wearing glasses
  • Tripod mountable to limit arm fatigue and vibrations
  • Integrated tripod mount can be adjusted along center bar to precisely balance the binocular for easier movement and vibration reduction without stressing the head or mount
  • Long 18mm eye relief increases viewing comfort and reduces eyestrain, especially during long glassing sessions
  • Comfortable 4mm exit pupil will cover most pupils as they open and dilate in low light to keep the entire scene in view
Construction Details
  • Center stabilizer bar adds rigidity, ensures optical tubes remain parallel, and provides a strong attachment point for the included tripod adapter
  • Lightweight and durable aluminum-alloy chassis
  • Nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof to an IPX6 rating and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme changes in temperature and environmental conditions
  • Broad 14 to 122°F (-10 to 50°F) operating temperature range
