Ideally used with a filter wheel equipped with a built-in off-axis guider (OAG) like their Maxi or Mini SX wheels, the Starlight Xpress Active Optics Guiding System is a USB-controlled unit without a dedicated OAG assembly. The Active Optics (AO) assembly monitors the edge of your telescope's field of view via a 10mm square prism to provide accurate position feedback to the control software. High-speed corrections of the star field position are generated and applied, without any need to move the mount, thus avoiding the delays associated with conventional guiding. This system can be used on a variety of OAG assemblies including the Starlight Xpress Lodestar X2 or Ultrastar. A 10' (3m) USB cable, 12 VDC power supply, and 5' (1.5m) autoguider cable are supplied with the system.
