Key Features
- Circular Polarizer Filter
- 2.5x Filter Factor, +1.3 Stop
- Helps Eliminate Reflections and Glare
- Reduces Haze in Landscapes
The 77mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter from PolarPro helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a nonmetallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges and filters this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from nonmetallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

Does it make sense to (can you ) add the Natural Density on top of this filter?
Personally, I would not use a ND filter on top of the Polarpro Quartzline Circular Polarizer Filter, when you can add that effect in post whether in LR or PS.
Though you certainly can add a ND filter ,its just my preference not to, plus its less destructive in LR or PS...

Does this come with the same case / cover system that the McKinnon Variable ND filter comes with?
It does not. The PM Variable ND Signature II comes with its round unique protector (hard cover + rubberized cover), and the Quartzline CPL comes with a square hard case with magnetic closure.

Does the rear ring ever bind or cross-thread?
Does the rear ring ever bind or cross-thread?
The larger the filter diameter the more difficult it is to install without cross-threading. This is not a function of the filter but a function of large diameter fine threads. Great care needs to be taken when starting to thread the filter. Any binding or resistance at all within the initial partial thread engagement is an indication of cross threading requiring an immediate reverse rotation/removal and another attempt at installation.

Is this an ND-16 Filter?
Is this an ND-16 Filter?
No. An ND-16 reduces exposure about 4 stops. This is a polarizer that will only reduce a mere 1.3 stops. This is mainly used to make skies more contrasty, remove glare and reflections from things like glass and water.
If you're looking into an ND-16 take a look at this instead.

This is a ND-16 with a polarizer (still just 4 stops of reduced light). It's a 2-in-1.

Does this product fit with a lens hood?
Does this product fit with a lens hood?
Depends on the lens. The 77mm does NOT fit with the Sony FE 4.5-5.6 / 100-400 GM OSS lens hood. It's just a hair too big and the hood has very tight tolerance. The 82mm filter works with the Sony FE 2.8 / 24-70 GM II lens hood, but it's a tight fit.

Does this work with a Canon R5 24-105 lens (77mm) ...
Does this work with a Canon R5 24-105 lens (77mm) - and if so, can I screw it into the UV-Haze filer that I keep on this lens for protection?
Yes, the PolarPro 77mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter will work with a Canon 24-105mm lens; any 77mm filter will adapt to a Canon 24-105mm lens. We highly suggest using slim-profile filters to avoid vignetting issues.
