Voigtlander 110mm f/2.5 Macro APO-Lanthar Reviews

Sharpest lens in my cabinet

I tell my friends that this lens is so sharp you have to be careful not to cut yourself. I've got a reasonable collection of Sony G and GM lenses and I think this one might be the sharpest of all. Even with focus stacking with Helicon, I really don't need apply any additional sharpening in post. I traded in my Sony 100mm macro because the focus-by-wire just wouldn't allow me to dial in the focus fine enough to get a good stack. Problem solved. As a bonus, the focus and aperture controls are so smooth it's actually enjoyable to adjust.

i've been shooting primarily on Voigtlanders for years. The 65mm has been my favorite for a while. It still is my preferred focal length for food and portraits. But this one is equally exceptional. Do not drop these lenses. My 65mm took a short fall and the focus barrel is slightly dented so the focus/aperture ring is pretty stiff (but usable) - impossible to get it repaired. No support from Voigtlander nor any camera repair shop is willing to touch it. Taking extra care of this one after that incident.

Does this lens have an auto aperture or does it stay at the set aperture like the 65mm macro?
Asked by: David
Unfortunately, the Voigtlander MACRO APO-LANTHAR 110mm f/2.5 Lens for Sony E only has a manual aperture. The aperture needs to be set manually on the lens. It does not have an auto aperture or a way to set the aperture from the camera.
