Cat S61 Overview

Designed to withstand the stresses of a jobsite, the S61 64GB Smartphone from CAT offers industrial and construction tradespeople a rugged phone with a professional and specialized set of features. Highlights of the S61 include a built-in FLIR thermal imaging camera, built-in air quality sensors, and laser distance measuring. In addition, the S61 is IP68 and MIL-SPEC 810G rated for extensive protection from the elements.

With all of its industrial features aside, the CAT S61 is still a modern day smartphone, featuring a 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, and a 5.2" FHD IPS display. The touchscreen display features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, along with the ability to be used when your hands are wet.

Running the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system, this phone is powered by a Qualcomm SD630 2.2 GHz Octa-Core processor and 4GB of RAM. You can store your thermal images and video and apps on 64GB of built-in storage, which can be expanded via an (optional) microSD card up to 256GB in size.

This phone is unlocked and compatible with GSM/4G LTE networks. Connect to the internet and other devices with built-in 802.11 b/g/n 2.4+5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. The CAT S61 also supports NFC technology for making phone-to-phone data transfers, or mobile payments via Android Pay.

Android 8.0 Oreo
The Android operating system integrates heavily with Google's services. Using the card-based Google Now, Android quickly surfaces information for you whenever you need it, powered by the same Knowledge Engine that runs Google's web search. It's a personalized and customizable OS, allowing you to add your favorite apps or widgets to your home screen. You can even download new themes using the Google Play Store, which offers access to millions of apps, games, books, music, movies, and more. Android 8.0 Oreo adds major productivity and security capabilities to the operating system. They've introduced Google Play Protect, which scans apps on your phone to detect harmful behavior. With the touch of the Home button, continue to work in apps while watching active videos in Picture-in-Picture mode. Other features include, faster boot speed, automatically turning on Wi-Fi when near saved networks, limiting background activity for little used apps, notification snoozing, smart text selection, and more.
GSM / 4G LTE Wireless Connectivity
This phone is designed to work on select GSM networks and is 4G LTE capable. LTE is an advanced cellular network data protocol capable of data speeds so fast that they compete with wired broadband Internet providers. With an LTE connection, this phone should have no problem streaming HD video, downloading apps, uploading photos, or anything else that requires a high-speed data connection. The phone is also backwards compatible with 3G and 2G data for instances when you can't get LTE. In addition to cellular wireless, this phone also features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

North American Variant / US Compatible LTE
The S61 is a US variant. The S61's LTE radio is tuned to frequencies that are most often used in the United States and North America. It can also be used in other parts of the world; however, LTE access may be limited or unsupported, depending on the network. To ensure this phone will work with your carrier please check to make sure the frequencies your carrier uses are supported by this phone. FLIR Thermal Imaging
Utilizing FLIR MSX technology, the built-in thermal camera works in conjunction with the rear 16MP camera rear camera to provide a sharp and high resolution thermal image. The FLIR camera is a useful tool that can be used to detect hot spots and locate heat signatures in environments with little to no visibility. The camera can read temperatures up to 752 degrees Fahrenheit from up to 100' away, and can read surface temperatures from up to 50' away.
Laser Distance Measurement
A laser is built into the rear of the phone for use with the Measure app, which has the ability to give point-to-point measurements of up to 26.2' in length. When used in conjunction with the rear 16MP camera, you can also use the laser to measure area and the dimensions of a space, helping you calculate and create estimates for construction materials.
Rugged Design
Built tough, the S61 is IP68 and MIL-SPEC 810G rated, which means it can withstand a variety of environmental hazards. It's fully waterproof and able to be submerged in up to 9.8' of water for up to 60 minutes, even in salt water. While in the water, both cameras remain completely functional. It can withstand being dropped onto concrete from up to 5.9' in the air, is dust proof, and is resistant to vibration, pressure, sand, and salt mist.
