The black T-25SK T-0S Series Travel Tripod with B-00 Ball Head is a 5-section support with carbon fiber legs that extend, along with the 2-stage rapid center column, by unlocking each twist lock section. Therefore, the tripod can reach a maximum height of 53.8". With three variable leg angles, independent leg spread, and the removable center column, the legs can completely splay out to have a minimum height 3.1". To store or carry the 2.2 lb tripod, the legs fold 180° to produce a compact 12.2" support.

I feel 2nd stage center column (top most one) is ...
I feel 2nd stage center column (top most one) is actually a plastic material even thought it look like carbon material. Also screw threads of top 2nd stage column threads is plastic which can be screwed to round base. This plastic screw threads in long run usage will be like a 'weak link in strong chain'. What is your opinion ? Thanks for looking at my question/query.

Does the ballhead work fine with Sony A7R3 + Sony 16-35 f2.8 / 24-105mm lens veristically?
It should. I use my Nikon D750 and with a 28-300mm lens on it. It is a travel tripod, so you may not get the height you want in some situations. It works for me. It fits in my backpack and carry-on luggage and it's also light.

Is this considered an "upgrade" to T025X? I'm pretty happy with the T02X including the bag that came with it. But the T025X is too weak when fully extended...
I have found the T025X to be a good tripod for the weight but not as stable as my other light tripod that weighs about a half pound more. The T025X legs have 5 extensions and my more stable tripod legs are 4 extensions.

Is this good for mounting a scope? I am looking for a gift for my bird watching husband.
Get legs and then attach a pan head like the IFOOTAGE video tripod head. The cheaper pan heads do not work well with the weight of most scopes and do not adjust well for the amount of tension one would want.
