* Use the USB cable that is supplied with your camera.

The Extendá Plus connects to a camera directly via a USB cable and then creates an ad-hoc Wi-Fi network, which allows you to remotely control a camera using an application available on IOS, Android, Mac, or Windows devices. The Wi-Fi network has a range of 196.9 feet.
Remotely change your camera settings such as shutter speed, ISO, aperture, exposure compensation, and white balance via a smartphone or computer, and live view mode provides a real-time stream from the camera to your device, which allows you to preview images on a larger screen.
Set up the app for auto viewing of images to have each image streamed to a mobile device or computer immediately following capture. This allows a client or assistant to easily review images as they are taken. Also, you can use the Extendá app to browse images on the card and then select images to save to your mobile device or computer.
The Extendá app supports touch focus/tap-to-focus functionality. This means you can just tap on your device's touchscreen to select which area of the scene to focus on. Alternatively, you can also manually control focus by adjusting the focal plane forward or backwards in small increments.
Create timed exposure images, set a delayed timer for exposure, or use the intervalometer for time-lapse photography through the app. A bulb mode is available as well for long exposures.
Focus stacking will allow you to take a series of photos with varying focus points that can be combined in post-processing software to create a single image with a wide depth-of-field.
Set up bracketing in order to make sure you get the perfect exposure. This mode offers options for exposure bracketing using shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation. This tool can be used to help create HDR images using post-processing software.
On your device use the rule-of-thirds grid, which helps you to compose your shot whether you are shooting photography or video.
Powered by a replaceable LW-500BT 3.8V, 3200mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which has a 3-hour battery life.

Vello LW-500 Reviews

Works well once you figure it out

I bought this controller to run remove video on my older Sony cameras, the Sony A7R ii and A9. For the A9, I can switch the shutter to turning video on and off, and then use a simple remote shutter to run the video...but of course, you can't see what is being recorded. Not so with the A7r ii...no ability to switch the shutter, so no remote video. With this Vello unit, no need to do that switch on the A9. And yes, remote video works on the A7R ii. With the A9, you can switch back and forth on the App between shooting video and photos. I don't want the pictures or the video sent to my iPhone. Leave them on the camera. No problem with the A9. With the A7Rii, there's an issue if I take a photo and don't download to the phone. Video won't work if there is a photo to download. I have to download it, then the video works. To be clear, this Vello unit will not download the video's to your iPhone or anything else. It will download photos. Battery Life: On the first unit I bought, I was only getting about 65 minutes. I called Vello and they said to return it. I did. B&H sent me another unit. Again, battery only lasted 65 minutes when battery life is claimed at 3 hours. I started looking online for another answer. I found one by careful review of the comments on the very similar CamFi Pro Plus unit you can view on Amazon (only viewable if you use google to get there). There I found a comment in Italian, which Amazon translates, from a user that said his unit had short battery life, so he contacted the company and they told him to set his USB power to OFF on his Sony camera. Boom!!! Nailed it. I turned off USB power in my menu system and the battery life for the Vello controller went from 65 minutes to almost 300. They advertise that you can charge your cell phone with this Vello controller. Well, okay. If you have your Camera set to enable USB charging...then whatever power source you hook it up to with the USB cable will lead to charging the batteries in the camera. That's fine if you attach your camera to a computer that is on an AC power cord. Not so great otherwise since that power usage will drain this Vello unit. The battery in this Vello only lasted 65 minutes because it was also charging my camera batteries while it was attached and on. Once I stopped it from doing that, battery life surged. Finally, if you have larger power source, like a 20,000 mah power bank, uou can hook that up to this Vello while it is hooked up to your camera. It will keep the Vello running much longer. Heck, you could turn that USB Power switch in the menu back to on, and the power bank will keep both the Vello and your camera batteries on much longer.

New Perspectives!

I recently got to try out the Extendá Plus, and I have to say, Im a fan! I had zero trouble with the software - as I see some others did. Using it around the house and the studio have been helpful for feeling out the app, but I am really looking forward to getting more use out of it in the field. So far, I am confident that it will work well! As a wildlife photographer, remote systems like this open the door for interesting perspectives, rather than typical telephoto views. I have a few different projects in mind that I sure will try and use the Extendá for! It works well on my canon 5D mark II - an older body. Nice to keep this in mind when buying! Like I said, this device really opens the door to new things. There are so many possibilities - more than I could ever need! Would recommend.

What cable is needed to connect to Nikon D750?
Asked by: Bill
The D750 uses a Mini-B cable. The manufacture of the Vello LW-500 Extendá Plus Wi-Fi Camera Controller for Select Canon, Nikon, and Sony Cameras recommends using the cord that comes with that model camera. If you do not have the cord this is the one that replaces it, Nikon UC-E6 USB Cable (4.5') BH #NIUCCP2100 • MFR #25604 https://bhpho.to/3gqL2B4

I have a Nikon D3300. Will the LW500 also trigger an attachable NIkon Speedlight?
Asked by: Frank
Being that the LW500 uses the USB connection of your Nikon D3300, you can still have a Nikon speedlight on the hotshoe to be triggered at the same time as the camera.
