Panasonic DP-UB820 Overview

View 4K and 3D content on your compatible display with the Panasonic DP-UB820-K HDR 4K UHD Network Blu-ray Player. It features two USB ports that allow you to connect peripherals such as thumb drives for easy playback of a variety of file types. Additionally, the player can wirelessly stream video content from your smart device to your display.

The DP-UB820-K is compatible with a variety of video and audio formats, such as AVCHD, MP3, FLAC, and more. It supports high-resolution audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio for a dynamic surround sound experience, and even has a 7.1-channel analog and a dedicated HDMI audio output. Additionally, you can control the Blu-ray player with your voice through your compatible Alexa or Google smart speaker.

Excellent 4K UHD Blu-Ray Player

I'm normally a more budget-conscious buyer, but I've had problems with lesser Panasonic and Sony 4K Blu-Ray players. I decided it was time to try a more upscale model and chose the Panasonic DP-UB820-K based on reviews. I've had it for a week now, immediately installed it, and it's been working flawlessly so far! Not sure if it's just me wanting the picture to be better, but it seems to me the picture is a little sharper and colors have mor depth. I have an extensive collection of DVDs, 1080P Blu-rays, and 4K UHD Blu-Rays. Tried a couple movies that caused freezing or pixelation problems for me in the past, no problems so far!

I Recently Realized Just How Much Better Physical Media Is Compared To Streaming. The Difference Is Night And Day. A Solid Player Like This One, Paired With A Few Box Sets Of Your Favorite Movies Or Shows, Completely Changes The Experience. The Picture Quality, Sound, And Overall Consistency Easily Beat Anything You’ll Get From Streaming Services. Once You Go This Route, You Won’t Want To Go Back.

Is the player noisier when reading a 4K UHD disc ...

Is the player noisier when reading a 4K UHD disc compared to a regular blu-ray HD disc? The player sounds normal at regular play.

I don’t think it’s noisier, I can not hear a difference. But when I’m playing a movie on the player I have my surround sound on anyway. I have had problems of sound not playing at all when a disc is played. I had to turn it off and on again , then the sound will come on. Don’t happen very often. But has happened before.

Since my 10-year-old Oppo DVD player is not working very well now, I am thinking about replacing it. Will this Panasonic model work with a 2009 Samsung plasma TV?

It seems like a bit of “over kill” since this player is very expensive and designed for 4K UHD discs which will not work with your television. If I were you, I would buy a Roku or Apple TV streaming box instead and save a decent amount of money. This player will only work to its fullest if you buy a 4K television.
