Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens (ARRI PL, Cine-Mod Version)
Key Features
  • Full-Frame | f/14 to f/40
  • Focus and Aperture Gears for Cine Use
  • Unique Probe Design for Close-Up Work
  • 2:1 to Infinity Magnification
Described as "weird but genius," the ARRI PL-mount Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens from Venus Optics is a truly unique lens designed for close-up shooting. Distinguished by its long and slender lens barrel, this macro lens provides a 2:1 maximum magnification with a 1.5' minimum focusing distance and a close 0.8" minimum working distance. Even with such a close working distance, the lens measures 1.3' long, placing you at a comfortable distance to photograph nearby subjects. Also, as a wide-angle lens, greater depth of field is afforded when compared to traditional telephoto macro lenses, allowing for greater detail in the background with less subject isolation.

I know there is an E-mount version, but I want the versatility of a PL mount to use with Arri cameras, so the question is.....Is there a crop factor or any magnification when using the PL mounted Laowa with a Metabones E mount adaptor?
Asked by: Eric
It would depend on if your E-mount camera is full frame and your selected Metabones mount; however, if you used the Metabones ARRI PL Lens to Sony E-mount Camera T Adapter (Black), B&H # MEMBPLEBT2, with the Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens (ARRI PL, Cine-Mod Version) on a full-frame camera, there will not be any crop.

Asked by: Pedro
At this time we do not carry a customized lens support unique to this lens. We recommend using normal lens supports such as the Tilta 15mm LWS Rod Lens Support (BH #TILST05 • MFR #LS-T05)

BH #VE2414PL is the PL Mount version of this lens. We also have BH #VE2414CC which is the EF mount version. You may be able to use it with adapters depending on the camera mount you have as well.

Some reviewer reported about yellowish LED light. How bad is it?
Asked by: Sri Mulyono
My whole lens leans yellow anyways, the light seems mostly daylight balanced. I try to stay away from front light in my photography and cinematography so I tend to avoid using it. Also in specular reflections you can very clearly see the 8 individual diodes that compose the ring light. This lens is incredible for what it is capable of, but it does have it’s limitations.

Can someone list every single difference between the cine-mod and regular versions of this lens?
Asked by: Robin
Cine lenses will have built in gear on the focus ring for focus pulling. That's why it's called the Cine-Mod Version. The original version does not have the built in gear around the focus ring.
