Lowepro BP 450 AW II Reviews

Solid But Not Perfect

Reviews from Christopher (4-stars) and Behrooz (1-star) reflect my view of this bag. I wanted it to be my go-to bag and it is. While I have other backpacks, this one is going to be the one I use the most. This bag is as solid as they get. So, I know my gear it protected. However, access through the main opening in the back is not easy as you need to dodge some obstacles on your way to opening the zipper. As Christoper mentioned in his review, the rounded corners are a mixed bag. If you lay the lens flat, the rounded corner hugs it perfectly. If you want to store your lens upright, the rounded corner does not let it sit flat on the bottom. The tactical part is a cool feature if you use it. I hang my water bottle from it as I do not want any liquids inside the bag. I can also hang accessory pouches for other nick-nacks. It is also perfect for your tripod as it allows you to hang it from the side or back of the bag. Pluses: comfortable to wear, top handle is perfect when you lift the bag. It balances nicely unlike some other bags I have. Side access is perfect for a quick camera grab. There are plenty of dividers inside to customize it to suite your needs. I am keeping it and will learn to deal with its flaws! Perhaps, there is a AW III in the works that addresses some of the issues. I wanted to give it a four star rating but this bag has too many good things going for it to be robbed off a star. So it is a 5-star in my book!

The bag came in a few days ago. I am in the process of customizing the inside for my gear. It is the most robust backpack I have in my bag line up. It is solidly built and it is infinitely customizable. I like the molle system as it allows you to attach things that are made to go outside and a few that are not! I contemplated Shimoda, Peak Design and a few other more expensive backpacks but at the end of the day, I thought the LowePro 450 AW II offered the best value. It is a little heavier than I would like but what is a few extra pounds when you get rock solid protections for your gear. I am very happy with this backpack and would recommend it to my friends.

The backpack is nothing short of awesome. It is hands down the most well made, sturdy, and functional camera bag I have ever seen.

I bought this camera bag for my overseas trip. It does provide lots of room and easily fits my Nikon Z9, 70-200mm, 24-70mm, 18-24mm, 14mm Rokinon, lens filters and other accessories. Lots of room. My biggest disappointment was how the clip for holding the tripod onto the camera bag wouldn't stay closed. It kept popping open any time pressure was placed on the clip. So I was unable to use the tripod mounting system, in fear of unexpectingly losing my Gitzo Travel Tripod. Also when the tripod was mounted, the weight of the bag pulled me backwards. My 5'4 frame no longer had a center of gravity. I thought about mounting the tripod on the side but there wasn't enough room. Load straps would have been very useful to pull the bag closer to my back to reobtain my center of gravity. Overall, this bag would be better for someone taller to be able to use it to full capacity.

The right size for working pros with a 16 Laptop

My older calumet pro bag was wearing out and needed replacing. I mostly use the bag for safely bring my computer, chargers, grip, safety kit and snacks so this is the perfect size for me. I have a lot of think take pouches and so I mostly just use it with the cross dividers. I did rig it with my canon R5 and 2 lenses and it was spacious. All the webbing seems mostly useless but it looks smart.

A Canon EF 500mm f/4 could fit either to the left or right of the camera compartment, but that will leave little room to store a camera body easily.
