Manfrotto Befree 2N1 Tripod with 494 Ball Hea... Overview

The all-in-one Manfrotto Befree 2N1 Aluminum Tripod with 494 Ball Head is a 4-section support with a lever-lock leg system that unlocks with ease and enables the tripod to reach a maximum height of 59.3". The independent leg spread allows it to conform to uneven terrain and allows the 3.7 lb tripod to have a minimum height of 16". When you're ready to go to your next destination, the legs close in the reverse to a folded length of 16".

One of the legs is detachable and converts into a working monopod. The 494 ball head, which has a load capacity of 19.8 lb, comes off the rapid center column and attaches to the monopod as well. The head has two independent knobs for the ball movement and for the panning. Plus, the head also has a quick release system, which is supplied with a dedicated 200PL PRO plate. The durable magnesium spider has an Easylink, so an articulated arm can attach or other accessories.

Very versatile travel tripod

I own multiple Manfrotto tripods and this one does not have to shy back from my more regular tripods. You can use it as a simple tripod, but you also can move every single leg in various steps up - typical Manfrotto - can play around with the top extension and even archive most ankles you will need while you are traveling. I love that you have the same base plate and I don't have to worry about this at all switching between my pods. That you can within 2 to 3 minutes build a mono-pod or single-leg pod is yet another advantage. Of course it came in the usual sling-bag, but I also can transport it nicely attached to my backpack. The legs fold 180 degree up, so the head is in the middle and does not make the folded pod any larger. Yes, it is on the heavier side, but that's what I expected and wanted, cause I want to know my camera and lens are as secure as possible and the pod has is stable - if your goal is to safe every gram possible, you probably wouldn't even take a big and expensive SLR and lens... Love it! Great pod. Experience with the order and delivery via B&H was great as well!

A great tripod, but little heavy for travellers

This 2N1 tripod and monopod is a good heavy duty tripod. the quality is good and it's size is really compact. I wish it was lighter being a traveller.

The Manfrotto Befree 2N1 Aluminum Tripod with 494 Ball Head (Lever Lock) can support up to 19.8 lb. So it can hold a 5d Mark III with most lenses. Very very long lenses you might want a tripod that supports more.

The tripod listed above is not the same as the tripod in the link you sent. As shown by the MFR SKU numbers, the tripod listed above is the Manfrotto Befree 2N1 Aluminum Tripod with 494 Ball Head (Lever Lock), B&H # MAMKBFRLA4B • MFR # MKBFRLA4B-BHMUS, while the tripod listed on the link you listed is the Manfrotto Befree GT Travel Aluminum Tripod with 496 Ball Head (Black), B&H # MAMKBFRTA4GT • MFR # MKBFRTA4GT-BHUS: they are not identical products. Our website does indicate that the we do carry the Manfrotto Befree GT Travel Aluminum Tripod with 496 Ball Head (Black), and it does include/list the Padded Tripod Bag under the "In The Box" section under the Overview tab.

do i have to buy extra equipment for this to work with the Nikon d850?
Asked by: Kentavist
nope. this will work out of the box with any camera that has a standard 1/4"-20 tripod socket on the bottom, which is essentially every camera. your d850 will fit, no problem.
