No, the CMF-8 is not compatible with the F4. The F4 has a compatible mount included in its packaging.

Are the screws on top of the F8n Pro only there ...

Are the screws on top of the F8n Pro only there for attaching this mount adapter or will mounting this with those screws loosen the top plate of the F8n Pro or anything else underneath? I just don't want to compromise anything if I mount this.

The Zoom CMF-8 Camera Mount Adapter for F8 and F8n attaches to the recorder using the same four screws that are already on the top of the recorder. The screws each go into separate channels and you will not harm any of the inner components by attaching the adapter to the recorder.
