The JB-1 generates, reads, and jam syncs timecode, offering six preset and two user-selectable output levels. Its Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) eliminates the need to jam more than once per day. A large backlit display enables you to easily read your timecode and settings, even when shooting outside.

Weighing only two ounces, the JB-1 includes an LED status and low/dead battery display. It provides an easy-to-use menu and is updatable via Mac or Windows using its micro-USB port.

As a production sound mixer, I've been using Denecke syncboxes for over 10 years. I have two of their SB-3s and bought one of these JB-1s a few years back after hearing insistent comments from camera dept about how great Tentacles' size are. :) I now have finally switched completely over to 2 JB-1s. The build quality and form factor is incredible. I'd expect nothing less from a trusted/long established company like Denecke. I had debated between these and the Tentacles. I heard mostly great things about them but also the 1/8in jack and plastic connector made it appear more like a prosumer device for one-man-band/DSLR type productions. No doubt they are still great devices, but as a sound mixer, I would consider the JB-1 a step above with the BNC connector and onboard display screen. It just feels really well made and super simple to use. No regrets and no more disgruntled camera dept when I hand them one of these to mount on camera!

I do really love these TC boxes and now that I have working ones, all is well but that is kind of a shocking QC track record for Denecke. Phone support is good with knowledgeable staff. Could have just been bad luck, no design is without its lemons. FYI - B&H does not do advance replacement so you have to buy another one before they ship a replacement.

Will this work with Convergent Design's Apollo to insert time code when ISO recording?
Asked by: Steve
according to the manufacturers manual connect the JB-1 to LTC I/O port, as long as you are using that time-code port as the selected time-code source, the time-code that's generated by JB-1 will be read and show up on the Apollo.

Can I use this with the Red Komodo and Tentacle Sync Recorder and Tentacle Sync to Red Komodo timecode cable?
Asked by: Jason
The Denecke JB-1 Syncbox Timecode Generator (B&H# DEJB1) can use the Tentacle Sync Tentacle to BNC Cable (Straight, 16") (B&H# TEC06) to provide time code for jam-syncing the Tentacle Sync TRACK E Pocket Audio Recorder with Lavalier Mic and Timecode Support (B&H# TETRACKE). And one could indeed connect the Denecke JB-1 Syncbox Timecode Generator (B&H# DEJB1) with the RED DIGITAL CINEMA EXT-to-Timecode Cable (3') (B&H# REEXTTOTC3) to the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF) (B&H# REKOMB).

What happens with the timecode when I am recording at 60fps?
Asked by: Brian
From the manufacturer; 60fps is the Video Frame Rate. The TC frame rate will be half of that. So, 60 fps Video = 30 fps TC. Please note, that many times the video frame rate is referred to as '60' when it is actually '59.94'. In this case, the timecode rate is 29.97fps. I have a strong hunch that this is the case here. 30\60 is very rarely used theses days.
