The Really Right Stuff Base Plate for Nikon Z 7, Z 6, Z 5, Z 6II, and Z 7II has the same incredible build quality of everything I have ever bought that was made by them. If you have one of the supported cameras as well as a Really Right Stuff tripod then this is a no brainer!

Does what it is supposed to do - make the z7ii (and other bodies) easier to hold and provide Area Swiss support. I have it always attached to my z7ii.

I have big hands and this plate extends the body just enough to noticeably improve my grip on the camera. I love the exquisite RRS workmanship.

As usual for RRS stuff five stars, despite needing a mod.

Five stars after a modification to make it more comfortable for me, in my hands, to shoot with. I've put RRS L-plates or just the base plate on all my cameras for many years. This is the first time that I've felt the need to modify any of my RRS equipment. With the Z bodies, I find myself not using my RRS tripods as much and leaving off the L-bracket. The ends of the attachment grove flange are pointed! The ends have usually been rounded. The points dig into my palm and are uncomfortable. I modify the L-plate for my Z bodies by filing the points off and then rounding the ends of the flange. I use an aluminum blacking solution to darken the aluminum after the process.

Best plate.Never the others.

Poor design.

1) Expensive. 2) When anything is attached to the strap loop on the base (a) the battery door is somewhat blocked, and (b) the camera doesn't sit flat. 3) The secondary 1/4 camera screw hole is off-center. (For attaching the plated camera to another platform.) 4) There is no stop to prevent sliding to the left. 5) There is no strap loop on the bottom left. It was frustrating. So I dumped the RRS and bought the Three Legged Thing L-bracket to replace it. For just a bit more, the Zelda solves those issues and gives a vertical mount too.

Not any particular at this time as the grip on the new Zs is slightly deeper. You can use versatile plate though the fitting will not be perfect.

Does this plate have a QD attachment?
Asked by: Ofer
No. There are threaded holes (both standard sizes) for attaching something like a QD mount adapter, but then the Arca Swiss plate won't attach without removing the adapter first.

I have this base plate on my Z6ii. It fits well and does not interfere with the FTZ adapter or the battery door.

Does this work with the FTZ adapter ?

Does this work with the FTZ adapter ?
Asked by: Anthony
According to Really Right Stuff, yes, the Really Right Stuff Base Plate for Nikon Z7 and Z6, B&H # REBZ7BASEPLT, may be used while the FTZ adapter is attached to the camera. However, please note that you would not be able to attach a base plate to the FTZ adapter simultaneously while this base plate is connected to the camera body. If you wish to attach a base plate to the FTZ adapter, then the base plate for the camer would need to be removed. To summarize, you may use one base plate on the camera, or one base plate on the FTZ adapter, but you cannot use a base plate on both the camera and FTZ adapter simultaneously. I hope that makes sense.
