    LG V40 ThinQ Reviews

V40 ThinQ 64GB Smartphone (Unlocked, Aurora Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good phone if you know what you're getting Got this phone about a week ago and I'm not disappointed since I knew what I was getting (I own the V30). I was not getting this phone for the cameras, although they are not bad per se but not the best in class. I was getting this phone for the larger better display and the Quad DAC and on those fronts, the phone delivers. Performance have been great with no slow down and I've had no issues with camera performance for my needs. I would recommend this phone if for you media consumption is at the top of your list (nothing beats the Quad DAC paired with a good quality WIRED headphones).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best one yet Preface: I owned the V30. It is now my backup.  I have a grandfathered Verizon unlimited plan and this device didnt attempt to check to see if my plan was provisioned for tethering when I enabled wifi tethering.  The camera is fantastic. It has exceeded my expectations in low light.  The audio (line out) is stellar. (It has a headphone jack) The on-board speaker is way better than V30. The screen is great but I am not a huge fan of the notch. Whatever. If you hate it, turn it off. At least they give you the option.  I have been around the mobile block (per se) and this phone has been great. Keep up the good work, LG.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perty Good Its a good phone. Solid performance overall. Cameras are better than previous generation LG cameras, especially in low light. There is some watercolor effect in some situations, but nothing you wouldnt expect from a cellphone camera.  Its disappointing that the phone didnt launch with Android 9.0, but hopefully theyll update soon.  The only thing that separates this phone from much cheaper current phones is wireless charging, USB 3.1, and maybe the AMOLED screen. Everything else is pretty common. Unfortunately I wanted those things, so I paid for this. Otherwise I would probably have gone with a much cheaper 845 based phone, of which theyre plenty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The V40 is LGs best phone yet Ive owned the G3, G4, V10, V20, and V30. Although I never had bootloops with any of those phones, I always found some shortcoming that forced me over to other phones, such as Samsung. With the V40, there are very few compromises. Overall this is an excellent phone that includes FM Radio, microSD expansion, headphone jack, 5 cameras, etc. The only concerns I have with the V40 are as follows: 1) The battery should have been larger. Ive had the phone for a week and the best I can squeeze out of it is about 4.5 hours of SOT. 2) The V40 should have launched with Android Pie. Seriously, having just launched an Update Center, the V40 should have launched with the newest software. 3) The Triple Shot often causes blur, particularly with the telephoto. There are two camera updates that have been released to fix this problem (among others), but it hasnt hit the B&H phone yet. Hopefully it will arrive soon. Other than these three issues, Im very pleased with the V40. It is smooth, the display is beautiful (no blue tint or black crush like the V30) and it has some really interesting / useful camera features. Once LG addresses some of the camera issues, Ive no doubt this will be a 5* killer flagship phone. But for now, the best I can do is 4* due to the issues outlined above. The phone is definitely worth it on sale, but not a full price. Overall, highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great phone Excellent phone, great screen. All in all it is a big step up from the LG G6 I had before. The OLED is gorgeous to look at, with a lot of customization options for color settings. Slight caveats: The phone is quite large, and in order to remain a one hand phone, the screen is slightly curved at the edges (not to the extent of the galaxy 9 or the mate 20 pro, but still noticeable). To put on screen protectors, personally I would have preferred a flat top glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS LG V40 PHONE IS GREAT!!  NO REGRETS Please ignore the review below Buyer Beware.  It is NOT accurate whatsoever!! I Purchased this phone on November 1, 2018 when the LG V40 was still discounted $200 and LG was given away the FREE MicroSD 256GB card. Im in Canada and I’m on the Rogers network, and within 48 hours my LG V40 got the Android 8.1 OS update along with the Oct 2018 security patch. I believe 2 or 3 weeks after that I received another software update which improved the quality of the cameras and included the November 2018 Security patch. Last week Friday I received the MicroSD Card from LG.  Yesterday I got the December 2018 security patch.   As a comparison my wife has the G7 bought from Rogers directly and she hasnt received the Dec 2018 patch yet. Dont believe that reviewer below, it must be fake news! lol This phone is awesome, super-fast, the screen is really bright, and the QHD screen is beautiful to watch content on.  Speakers are great as well, upload and download speeds are super-fast.  The V40 plays all my games with ease and no LAG.  Thus far my V40 hasnt given me any problems, glitches or random restarts in case any of you were wondering.  B&H shipping was super-fast.  However the box they shipped it in was maybe the SIZE of around a 10 inch shoe box, and they did NOT include any bubble wrap or foam pieces in it. It was just the phone in its own box loosely moving around! My only complaint would be the size of the battery 3300Mah is a bit too small for this large 6.4 screen, and the Side Light notification feature needs a lot more work to be really useful and versatile. Lastly, as per LG they have indicated that Android Pie will be coming to the G7 and V40 first in January 2019.  (Just Google it for more info). Thanks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Phone great price I think this is one of the best phones I have owned. I have owend all brands of Androids including the high end brands. The ergonomics are great, love the customizing abilities very good battery life ( I use this phone all day). B&H honored the sale price as well. The colors are vivid, video and screen clarity is excellent. Love the size and it is thin and lightweight. Perfect. Would have liked to have it in a different color other than Aurora Black but that is the only fault I could find with this device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A PHONE WORT EVERY PENNY Coming from an LG G5 phone, which was also a great phone during its time, I always wanted to have an OLED screen but did not wanted to go for the iphone  since Im not a fan of apple but this phone has everything I was asking for like a comfortable 6.4 OLED screen and fast processor for playing War Robots. In conclusion, I highly recommend the LG v40 ThinQ for its performance and 5 cameras for the ones that love taking photos, this is the ONE. B&H Photo had the best deal too, Thanks.

When activating this unlocked V40 on Verizon, will the WiFi calling feature work? Neither the V30 or V35 I purchased unlocked from B&H have WiFi calling on Verizon.
    Asked by: Trip
WIFI works of course anywhere. WIFI calling is a carrier specific thing in that the carrier either decides to allow this or not. The reason they may not is you could take a small talk plan and do most of your talking through WIFI which is simply Voice over IP (VOIP)
