While Internet access is required to install Office, you do not need to be connected to the Internet to use the Office applications.
Please be aware that Office 2019 is a one-time purchase that comes with classic apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for Windows, and does not include any of the services that come with an Office 365 subscription. OneNote is pre-installed on Windows 10 and available as a free download for Mac. OneNote for Windows 10 is the recommended version of OneNote, but for users running OneNote 2016 for Windows, a new Office 2019 license will unlock local notebook support. For Mac users, a new Office 2019 license will unlock Stickers.
