  • 1Description
  • 2Whole-Home Mesh Network
  • 3Smart Connect
  • 4Guest Network
  • 5Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)
  • 6Synology Router Manager (SRM)

Expand your Wi-Fi network to cover your entire home with the Synology Wireless Tri-Band Mesh Router.

With Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) connectivity and using one 2.4 GHz (400 Mb/s) and two 5 GHz (867 + 867 Mb/s) bands, the router can reach up to 2.13 Gb/s. You can link several MR2200ac mesh routers together under one SSID name for seamless roaming inside your own home. For temporary visitors, you can set up a guest network with limited, timed access to ensure your personal Wi-Fi network remains safe and prevents unauthorized access.

All Wi-Fi connections and devices can be managed via the Synology Router Manager (SRM 1.2). You also have access to features such as user profile creation, detailed traffic management, advanced web filters, and whitelisting features. With the integration of third-party databases, such as Google Safe Browsing and DNS/IP threat intelligence, you can enjoy a secure, yet powerful network management experience.

Speaking of security, this router supports WPA3-Personal/Enterprise certified encryption. It also has a WPS button for an automatically configured, secure setup. There are two internal antennas as well as a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 LAN port and a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 WAN port. Connect an external hard drive or a printer to the router via USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port for either file sharing or wireless printing, respectively.

Whole-Home Mesh Network
This router supports whole-home mesh networking. Simply extend an existing RT2600ac Wi-Fi network with an additional MR2200ac or integrate multiple MR2200ac mesh routers. The single SSID name you set allows you to roam from room to room without signal dropping. With one 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz bands available, this router utilizes MU-MIMO technology to enable simultaneous connections from multiple devices, which helps maximum Wi-Fi speeds and reduces congestion.
Smart Connect
Use Smart Connect to ensure devices are automatically connected to the ideal band for optimal connection performance, reducing delays and interruptions.
Guest Network
Use Guest Network to provide a secure connection and give public and temporary visitors limited permissions and access. You can also set up a welcome portal for everyone connecting to your Guest Wi-Fi. You will also have access to tools such as scheduling, auto password change, and MAC address filtering to prevent unauthorized access.
Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)
There is a dedicated WPS button on the router. Simply press it to allow your Wi-Fi connection to automatically configure and enjoy a hassle-free setup. You can also attach a printer or an external hard drive via the USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port for wireless access and file sharing.
Synology Router Manager (SRM)
Synology Router Manager (SRM) provides tools so you can quickly set up, customize, and efficiently troubleshoot issues.

Synology MR2200AC Reviews

Perfect match with the RT6600ax!

Just added my third Synology Wireless Tri-band Mesh Router to my home network. HINT: Power it up and go into stand-alone mode, update the SRM to the same SRM on your RT6600. Power it back up and add it to your network as a Wi-Fi Point.

Very Good Overall - But Updates Needed

There's so much good to say about this Synology Mesh Router and I have said it in other places. The greatest parts is you can get this to work in harmony with the Synology RT 2600 AC Wi-FI Router and have a solid big home or small business system. The software makes controlling user access and content restrictions really easy and it is powerful. But here is what would take this Mesh Router to the next level: - Update to the latest Wi-FI 6 Standard - Make it able to work with POE (Power over Ethernet) so it does not require a separate power brick - Better mounting options so it can easily be hung on a wall or from a ceiling None of these are deal killers but they do factor in if you care about the overall implementation in the best way possible. To get that level of integration, you will need to look towards something like the Ubiquiti UniFi system but that system is overkill for most home and small business situations. As is, this mesh router working in conjunction with the RT 2600 AC is the best way to get close to a robust business level wi-fi application in a reasonable and affordable package.

Great In Most Ways

I've purchased several of these units to be part of a mesh network that starts with Synology's RT2600AC. It is an awesome system that just works. The software is not always the most intuitive but overall it is very good. I did not ding this MR2200AC any stars, but my one complaint is that this unit lacks mounting options. It is designed to sit on a desk or shelf and that is it. If you want to mount it to a wall, there are no eyelets on the back to quickly hang it from a couple of screws. If you want to mount it from a ceiling, you'll have to get creative as Synology does not provide for that either. There is a lack of after market options so you're on your own. Synology could have done a much better job with mounting options or by selling an accessory bracket for this unit. Other then that minor quibble, it is wonderful.

Despite the latest claims of speed in other routers, I added the Synology Tri-Band to my Synology RT which now sits in the closet and ports a wired connection tot he Tri-Band. Much faster 5ghz and longer range as it has two 5ghz channels. Upgraded security is a good plus too. So far it's rock solid.

Works as advertised

I was looking to upgrade my home and out buildings on a mesh system. Our detached garage has an office & our separate barn is my wife business. With the mesh routers that can work as a mesh and wired work perfectly.

Setting this up with the RT6600 was a little more intensive than I'd have liked, but it is now working great. Happy with my purchase. These replaced a google mesh network.

Works great!!!

Needed better signal in bedroom/office ~42 feet from RT-2600AC. Greatly improved Link Rates. Some devices went from marginal to excellent. All devices (8) have excellent link rates!

I'm looking for a great source of WiFi for my large two story house without having an actual internet system. All we have is our cell phones which are Straight talk. And Verizon coverage.
Asked by: Josh
You have to already have existing internet .You can use the Synology Wireless Tri-Band Mesh Router two ways. As the primary Wi-Fi Point or an additional Wi-Fi Point. As the primary Wi-Fi Point, you have to connect the product to your existing modem with an Ethernet cable. To set up as an additional Wi-Fi point, make sure your primary Wi-Fi is either a Synology RT2600ac or MR2200ac. Then log into Synology Router Manager (SRM) on the primary Wi-Fi Point. Depending on the walls of your house, it might be best to use Synology Wireless Tri-Band Mesh Router as an additional Wi-Fi Point.

Asked by: Alejandro
Yes it will. Your modem is only the gateway to the ISP. This is designed plug into the modem and act as the wireless conduit to your modem. It can work as a standalone router or in a mesh system. These can also be used in conjunction with another MR2200, an RT2600 or an RT1900 to create a mesh network in your house.
