Magnus TR-13 Tripod with Ball Head Overview

The Magnus TR-13 Travel Tripod with Dual-Action Ball Head includes an Arca-type-compatible quick release plate, and the head has a separate locking knob for the ball, and one for the 360° pan. The cut notch on the side of the ball head allows you to place a camera at a 90° angle, and the head can support point-and-shoot, mirrorless, and DSLR cameras weighing up to 13.2 lb.

The four-section aluminum legs have flip locks that open so you can extend them along with the rapid center column to a maximum height of 62.5". To get to the minimum height of 16.5", the legs splay completely out, and they have three variable angles with independent leg spread to adjust when shooting on uneven terrain. The tripod's center column is reversible to get closer to the ground. The legs fold in the reverse to a compact 18.2" to be compact for travel, and rubber feet prevent the tripod from sliding on smooth surfaces.

Magnus TR-13 Tripod with Ball Head Reviews

Fool-proof tripod

I wanted a tripod to mount a phone stand too so I could record some video for art tutorials. The mount was super easy to switch and the various pivot points make setting up shots really easy. The telescoping legs are smooth and equally as easy to adjust. The whole thing collapsed down well into a fabric carry case and I’m thankful for the additional bag it comes with to protect the mounting bits.

I bought this tripod for a travel shoot. It's good for a light stationary camera. On the other hand I wouldn't recommend this for any camera heavier than 5 pounds or so. I found the stability to be practically useless due to build quality.

Not the best tripod for the price point. The arca swiss plate is cheaply made and difficult to use. Look for sales on B+H. Ultimately you will find a better tripod. I wish I had.

The tripod is exactly what I hoped for. Sturdy, well-built, and I like how it comes with a carrying case. The price is right, too.

I would like to adjust the pan scale to have either 0 or 180 aligned with the front leg of the tripod, but I have not been able to lock it in place in that position. Has anybody figured out a way to do this?
Asked by: Eric
Thanks for both answers. I had also pretty much come to the conclusion that while you can rotate the scale, you can't really lock it precisely in a specific position. Oh well, it's still useful as a reference, and at the price it's hard to complain. Great little tripod!

Is this tripod quick release plate compatible with a Cambio Field Camera? Not sure if different models require different heads?
Asked by: hailey
Yes, the ball head on the TR-13 comes with a Quick Release Plate with a standard ¼-20” thread. The Field camera may have a 3/8-16” female thread, in this case a reducer busing can be used.

Asked by: Claudia
Yes. The only time I had problems with giggle was when it was fairly windy. I think it was 30+mph. I bought it for a trip to Scotland, it preformed well (except for the wind). Now it's in my car, just in case. :)
