LightPix Labs Q20II Overview

The compact, lightweight FlashQ Q20II from LightPix Labs is a cost-efficient, manual-exposure lighting solution with advanced triggering and control features. The flash weighs just 4 oz and measures 3.9 x 2.3 a 1.1", making it easy to squeeze into tight places where larger units can't go.
With a guide number of 65' at ISO 100, the Q20II has manual power selection from 1/64 to full power, runs on two alkaline or rechargeable Ni-MH batteries, and will recycle to full power in 6 to 7 seconds depending on the batteries in use.

One of the flash's clever features is the RF transmitter built into its removable foot and the receiver built into the body of the unit. By detaching the transmitter and mounting the flash head remotely on a light stand, you can adjust power and trigger it from the on-camera transmitter at distances up to 33'.
Manual Flash Power Control
The Q20II allows you set the flash output from 1/64 (minimum output) to 1/1 (maximum output). These 7 steps of flash power ratios can be adjusted by two buttons.
Remote Triggering Power Level Adjustment
The Q20II functions like a typical on-camera flash while attached to the included shoe-mount FlashQ transmitter. Detaching the flash puts it into wireless mode allowing it to be used off-camera. Wireless triggering and power level adjustment can then be accomplished via the camera-mounted transmitter. The Q20II's FlashQ System can support up to 8 remote Q20II flashes simultaneously.
Power
The Q20II runs on two AA alkaline batteries or two rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. The transmitter can be conveniently charged via USB.
Rectangular Shape
The 3.9 x 2.3 x 1.1" flash is easy to squeeze into tight spaces.
LED Video / Modeling Light
The Q20II features an LED light with 7 output levels for use as a modeling light or with its CRI of 95, used as a video light. The light has a 60-minute run time with fresh batteries.
Tripod or Light Stand Mount
Built-in female 1/4"-20 threads allow the Q20II to be mounted on a tripod or light stand.
Tilting Head, Built-in Gel Filter Holder
The Q20II has a built-in gel filter and can tilt in 0, 45, 60, 75, and 90-degrees click stops.

LightPix Labs Q20II Reviews

Easy and Convenient

It's crazy to spend so much on a camera but not want to spend so much on its dedicated flash. This small flash is so versatile both off and on camera that experimenting with its output is so easy, manual-mode only or not.

Saved my Shoot

Had a big photo shoot coming up, thought I was doing candid shots at a mixer. Turns out they wanted a Photo Booth and I had no flash. This was in budget and also triggerable off camera. When I received it I realized it had color filters for the flash , and great construction. AA batteries is a minus , but I’m rarely discharging at full so it lasts plenty. Really made the photos look amazing, client was very happy and the flash stays in my bag.

Is This Compatible With Sigma Cameras?

Is This Compatible With Sigma Cameras?
Asked by: Todd
The simple answer is... it works great. I bought 2 flashes for my Sigma DP1 Merrill. The FlashQ seen here. And I also bought the Sigma EF-140 flash, which is built specifically for the Sigma DP cameras. I returned the Sigma flash and kept the FlashQ. The advantage of the Sigma flash... is that it calculates the exposure automatically, through the camera itself. This was great in the film camera days, when you didn't get immediate feedback on an LCD screen. But it's not really needed with digital cameras. On the Flash Q, there's no connection to the flash other than through the hot shoe. But it's very easy to calculate the exposure on the flash and then test it to make sure it is working right. And unlike the Sigma flash, you can do this on ANY camera that has a hot shoe (you can't use the Sigma flash on non-Sigma cameras). Then there is the added advantage that you can remove the flash body from the flash hot shoe trigger and easily do off-camera flash. And not have a clumsy flash (as big as the camera itself) tied to the top of the camera. You can also swivel the flash head to do bounce flash (the Sigma can't do that). And the FlashQ can also be used as a video light. This is a no-brainer. the FlashQ is actually the most versatile flash I've ever owned (I've been photographing since 1970). And it's incredibly reasonably priced, as well.

LightPix Labs FlashQ Q20II is a manual flash with a center pin connected to the camera hot shoe. Voightlander Bessa R has the same center contact on its hot shoe therefore you can use this flash unit on your camera and manually control the exposure.
