Zoom ZPCF8N Overview

The Zoom PC-8n is a protective case designed to house your Zoom F4, F8, or F8n multi-track recorder in the field. It provides bottom, top, and side access to your recorder, so you can easily tend to your duties during the session.

The removable clear-window cover allows you to keep an eye on your recorder's display without exposing it to the elements. Dust shouldn't be a problem, and thanks to its water-resistant construction, neither should rain.

The sides feature drawstring sleeves so you can access your recorder's I/O without exposing the connections to harmful weather conditions. Accessories can sit in zippered pockets, one located on the front and the other on the side. Mics and cables will fit easily in the main compartment.

Thanks to a hook-and-loop fastener you can access the bottom of your recorder. You can also configure this touch-fastener for your cable-routing needs.

Adjustable dividers are on hand so you can customize the interior for your exact predilections. If you need to work with your recorder outside of the bag, you can pull out the main divider, insert it sideways, and create a makeshift tabletop surface. Adjustable straps are provided, as are three latch hooks per side, ensuring a stable and comfortable fit for carrying your recorder for many hours at a time.

Zoom ZPCF8N Reviews

Good Addition

The protective case for my Zoom F8n was a wise purchase. It sure beats trying to use an old case that was meant for another product. It protects the recorder and has sufficient room for headsets and some smaller items. The access panels are nicely situated which allows for easy XLR plug in and battery changes. It is not a hard case but still provides good protection but I wouldn't use it for air travel. The negative is that Zoom discontinued the F8n recorder, so purchase wisely.

This roomy bag for a tiny recorder has a lot of issues with it. The width is sized nicely to fit the zoom F8, and theres room for most everything youd carry. Too much room, in fact, but works well to store headphones. And even your coffee. Its strong enough to protect your gear. That said... heres the bad and ugly. While it holds the recorder properly, there is no access to the rear, top, or bottom panels. Its a pain to remove the memory card but utterly impossible to change the internal batteries (be a sled on F8 or open battery door on F8n). Forget accessing timecode without a permanent cable attached. I cut a slice in the bottom of mine to allow some access. Cables have to be routed over the top between compartments. Decided you will use an external battery so its okay if you cant change the internal batteries? Think again, you have to run the power cable over the top and down to the recorder. Its like having 3 tiny shoe-boxes strapped together. Pull out the Xacto again and cut a hole for passing cables from one box to the next. Strap is not comfortable and twists. Shoulder pad is too small and not well-padded. That is something a sharp knife cant solve. The lexan D-rings can creak, too, but not loud enough to matter much.
