I travel a lot and would like to start taking my softbox with me. I have the 36x48 version, but the poles that go inside the softbox dont fit in the largest suitcase that you can check in. Is there any way to find out how long the poles are for the smaller options? I want a softbox that I can travel with and the only problem is the metal poles that go in the softbox to stretch it out.
I purchased the 12X16 Chimera for my lumedyne because I also shoot on location and didn't want to take my Chimera Octa because it was just too much to lug around.The rods are around 12'' I love this soft box and it is made in America.

What's this difference between this and the discontinued Chimera 1035?
The only difference is the shape of the back of the lightbank, the old model 1035 has a design that if it's not installed properly , you may lost some amount of the light bounced to the back of the lightbank. Now the new design of the back makes all the light will be bounced to the front so this makes a little more efficient. both of them will work like a dream. I strongly suggest to use a Quick Release Speed Ring from Chimera to your brand strobes. this also become more efficient timing in order to collapse the light bank for transportation and a Chimera Fabric Grid for occlusion of the angle of the light. All my softboxes are Chimera, and works perfectly.

You can't use this with continuous lighting, it's for strobe only. What you want is called the Chimera Video Pro Plus Softbox - Medium 36x48 (90 x 120 cm) B&H # CHVPPBM MFR # 8135.
