Tether Tools TetherPro USB Type-C Male to USB 3.0 Type-A Male Cable (15', Orange)

With this orange, 15 ft long Tether Tools TetherPro USB Type-C Male to USB 3.0 Type-A Male Cable, you can connect a camera, smartphone, or other USB Type-C device to a computer, for the purposes of transferring data. This cable supports USB 3.0 for data transfer rates of up to 5 Gb/s.

If you connect a camera to a laptop and your camera is compatible with tethering, you can use this cable to help increase productivity during photo shoots. Rather than proof images on your camera's small LCD, they are sent directly to a notebook's larger, hi-res display. Seeing images in this way helps to review them for slight imperfections that you may have otherwise missed.

To help enhance performance, this cable is fully shielded and plated to help minimize signal interference. Please Note: this cable is designed to be used for data transfer only, and not for charging devices.

Tether Tools QR Plus Quick Release Plate (Thunder Gray)

The thunder gray TetherBlock QR Plus Quick Release Plate is designed to adapt a camera to an Arca-type compatible quick release clamp and prevent damage to the camera's data port while tethered to a computer or hard drive.

Along the 1/4"-20 mount and anti-slip pads on the QR Plus's top surface are grooves that can channel a section of data cable into one end of the plate's length and out the other before the plate is attached to a compatible camera. This allows a USB or FireWire cable that is connected to a camera's data port for tethered photography to be secured under the camera and within the QR Plus. Before being able to reach the point at which a data cable and a camera connect, tension along the cable which could then occur from accidentally tugging or tripping on it is interrupted by the plate's grooves. Strain from abrupt and incorrectly angled detachment of a data cable that could otherwise dislodge a camera's data port or cause it to function improperly is avoided.

For direct attachment to accessories such as a tripod or straps that feature 1/4"-20 mounts, the underside of the plate is tapped with two 1/4"-20 female accessory threads.

  • Quick release plate for tethered photography
  • Compatible with Arca-type clamps
  • 1/4"-20 mount allows connection to a compatible camera
  • Rubberized, anti-slip pads for connected camera
  • Grooves along plate's top surface channel a section of data cable into one end of the plate's length and out the other
  • USB or FireWire cable that is connected to a camera's data port for the purpose of tethered photography can be secured under the camera and within the surface of the QR Plus
  • Prevents tension due to accidental tugging or tripping on data cable from causing abrupt and incorrectly-angled detachment of cable from camera data port
  • Helps avoid damage to data port
  • Two 1/4"-20 female accessory threads for direct connection to a 1/4"-20 mount

TetherPro USB 3.0 Type-C to Type-A Cable & TetherBLOCK QR Plus Quick Release Plate Kit Reviews

Great until they fail - then it's not worth it

At first, I loved this product. But after my 3rd Tether Tools TetherPro cable began failing (a month after its purchase, mind you), I'm done. Maybe this is user error - I'm always open to that possibility - but even with the help of the Tether Guard Camera Support, these wires just stop working and glitching WAYYYY too soon after purchase, especially given the price of these things. My first cable lasted longer than my 2nd & 3rd, but I wasn't shooting tethered as frequently when I bought the first. Despite much trial and error, I've found that there's no way of maintaining the integrity of the cable since it natively wants to bend differently than I need it to in securing the connection between my camera and computer. When my first cable started failing, I didn't realize that the cord was the issue. My camera would suddenly cease to send the images I was taking to my computer, and I thought it might be a camera error. Then, when I purchased a new cable, I discovered that it was, indeed, the cable that was the issue. And no amount of repositioning the glitchy cable rendered it dependable again. And the last thing you need during a client session is for something like this to go wrong. I'm kicking myself for even purchasing a 3rd after my 2nd cable began acting up. My 3rd actually began failing sooner than the first 2. There are a slew of alternate, much less expensive versions of this available on Amazon, etc. I'm really disappointed in this product.

I originally thought that this seemed expensive for what it is but it's really not when you compare it with other long USB cables. Plus it comes from a reputable name.

Works vary well. Good transfer speeds. Durable and well made. A little thicker than the one for the D750. Probably because it's usb c.

This cable provides great performance using the Hasselblad 907X tethered to a MacBook Pro. Photographs are transferred immediately to the computer for evaluation and storage.

Reliable, But Stiff

TT is well and justifiably known for good cables and we've used various versions for years, but they're stiff and this can place more stress on cable clamps and make storage somewhat of a PITA. Tried a Nine Volt cable and so far, just as reliable and speedy but much more flexible.

Works only occasionally

I can't figure out why, but when it works, it's great. But it doesn't work enough to be a reliable tool when I have clients in my studio. Going to buy another one, a USB-c to USB-c to see if that works better plugged directly into the Mac Studio. Yay for spending more money!

What is the difference between this and say a $10 alternative?
Asked by: Michael
The type of shielding to prevent interference, the metal used for the connections, how the connections are secured. I don't know for certain but those are elements to compare. The durability was important to me as we were using these for remote set ups and they would be installed and struck frequently on location.
