ION Audio VIDEO2SD Overview

  • 1Description

The Video 2 SD Standalone VHS Conversion Recorder from ION Audio enables you to record footage from VHS, Hi8, Beta, or other sources as digital files. Capture your source material to a microSD card while viewing it on your TV or monitor via its HDMI or 1/8" A/V port. No computer is necessary to convert video with the Video 2 SD.

If you wish to transfer files to your computer, be aware that this converter records directly to a microSD card, not straight to your computer. You can use your computer to monitor the footage while recording but must switch to data mode to transfer the footage via the USB port or by inserting the microSD card into your computer's card slot. microSD cards must be formatted as FAT32 or exFAT and be ≤16GB.

A 1/8" plug to 3-RCA cable and a mini-USB to Type-A cable are included with the Video 2 SD Conversion Recorder. A standard 3-RCA to 3-RCA cable, an HDMI to HDMI cable, a USB to wall adapter, and a microSD card are not included. The Video 2 SD records files up to 2 hours and 42 minutes, after which point a new file clip is created.

Note: Do not use the HDMI Out and A/V Out at the same time. If both are connected, only the A/V Out will work. To resume using HDMI, remove both the HDMI and /V Out cables, then reattach only the HDMI cable.

    ION Audio VIDEO2SD Reviews

Video 2 SD Standalone VHS Conversion Recorder is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent device This item works fantastically.  I bought, not from B&H, the Roxio vhs to dvd 3 plus, and sent it back a day later.  The Roxio kept shutting down when ever it felt like, and the files were humongous, 6 to 8gb.  With the Ion the files for  a 2 hour video are around 1.5gb and you dont need a computer to use this with.  You can get around 10 hours of video on a 16gb micro card.  It records in AVI, and I found that if you transfer the video to dvd or flash driver, there is a slight lag in the sych. Of audio to video.  No problem, convert the AVI to MP4 and set the quality to high and the finished product will be synced.  Of course you would need to do the MP4 conversion on a tablet or computer. I had it for under a week and Ive copied at least 15 tapes.  Love it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE The video quality is terrible; nowhere near what you get by by viewing the VCR output directly on the AV input of your TV.  Im actually considering the possibility that there may be a solder joint problem on the device.  The HDMI output does not work on my unit (when used all by itself, not in parallel with the analog output, as the directions specify). Save your sanity.  Do not buy this poorly engineered product.
